The Weird Thing About Vanessa's Halloween Costume That Is Raising Eyebrows

Even though Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi are no longer engaged, their first one-on-one date on The Bachelor will be remembered forever. Not only was floating in zero gravity a unique premise for a date, but sparks were definitely flying between the two of them. Now, it looks like Vanessa's Halloween costume might have accidentally alluded to her date with Nick. She dressed up like an astronaut with her nephew, but the image brings back a lot of memories of her time on reality TV.

Nick and Vanessa had a magical first one-on-one date. They wore astronaut-like suits and kissed while they were floating in the air. They even made out after Vanessa got motion sickness and threw up. If that isn't love, then what is? Clearly, Nick was very into her if he wasn't at all held back from the vomit. But aside from that, there was super strong chemistry between the two of them, and Nick got super emotional for the first time that season when he cried during the dinner portion of their date.

Even though Nick and Vanessa went on this date early in the season, it definitely made it clear that she was the frontrunner for his heart. Obviously, she ended up getting that finale rose and an engagement ring from Nick, so their zero gravity date was a great start to their relationship.

And the good times on the date lingered because as eagle-eyed fans noticed, Nick actually wore the yellow wristband from their adventure for the remainder of the season. Most people can't wait to snip those things off after an event, but, as BuzzFeed pointed out, Nick kept it on the entire time, which had to be pretty reassuring to Vanessa during some of the more stressful times in the season.

In a post-season interview with BuzzFeed, Nick explained why he kept the bracelet on, even around the other women: "You know, I'm nostalgic and I just kept it on as a reminder to me of this process potentially working out." Aww. Is Vanessa doing something similar by rocking the Halloween costume that she did, or is this just wishful thinking from some romantic fans?

It's definitely the latter. Unfortunately, Nick and Vanessa's relationship is over. The former couple announced their split with a statement that they released to Us Weekly on August 25:

It's with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement. We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other.

Even though Nick and Vanessa's former relationship is no one's business, Vanessa's astronaut costume reminded their fans of happier times.

One Instagram user commented, "Not even gonna lie, when I first saw this I thought you were going to rehash you and Nick's first 1 on 1. Super cute though!" Another person responded, "Yess. Glad someone said it lol." A third Instagrammer wrote, "omg yes I thought the same thing!" And another replied, "HAHA Omg I was thinking the same thing too lol." Clearly a lot of people saw Vanessa's costume and were taken back to The Bachelor.

Now the question is whether Vanessa thought about the date at all when she chose her costume, and if she had any idea she was risking this type of response. Then again, since she and her nephew are matching, it is very likely that he's the one who made the choice and she had to roll with it, Bachelor fan comments or not.

As of this moment, Vanessa has not liked or responded to any of the comments referencing her first solo date with Nick, but she probably has read them. Is she feeling nostalgic? Is she regretting her costume choice? Or does she not even care since she just dressed up to spend time with her nephew, anyway?
