What Does The New Starbucks Matcha Lemonade Taste Like?

It's been an unbearable heat wave the past few days and all I've been thinking about is how much I need a lemonade. A cold, refreshing, tall lemonade. Well in a perfect happenstance, Starbucks added two new iced drinks to their menu on Jun. 13, a day approaching 96 degrees fahrenheit in NYC. The idea behind these drinks is quite cool as well: Starbucks has teamed with Lady Gaga's Born This Way foundation with the idea of spreading and promoting kindness. For each drink purchased, Starbucks will donate 25 cents to Born This Way foundation. The two new drinks are the Violet Drink, a sweet, berry concoction and the other, my personal favorite, is the Matcha Lemonade. Everything you wish your local lemonade stand had offered, it is a refreshing breeze in this horrid heat. So what does the Matcha Lemonade taste like?

Made up of finely ground Teavana matcha green tea and crisp lemonade, this drink is as simple as it is good. At first you taste the lemonade, tart and refreshing. Then the matcha green tea emerges with a hint of flavor. If you like lemonade, it would be hard to not like this as well. Even if you find lemonade can be a little sweet for your liking, the matcha has a way of toning that down while keeping the flavor, something you might prefer.

If you're interested at all, now is the time to try it. While the Matcha Lemonade is now a permanent fixture on the menu, Cups of Kindness is only around through Jun. 19. So go brace the heat then get ready to be refreshed while doing good. Above all be kind while you do it.
