Miley's Not Gone From 'The Voice' For Long

After 11 seasons, The Voice has pretty much become a well-oiled machine, right down to the Adam and Blake bromance. Of course, for as much as there are things that stay the same year after year, there have been some changes. Probably the most major of these changes has been when it comes to who sits in the big red chairs to judge the best singers in America. The original panel included Levine, Shelton, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green, but the revolving door of judges has been circling for a few years now and only Levine and Shelton remain from the "core four." So, why isn't Miley Cyrus coaching The Voice Season 12?

A few months ago, Entertainment Weekly reported that it was confirmed Miley Cyrus, who served as an advisor in Season 10 and made her debut coaching in Season 11, would not be back for Season 12 in any capacity. Instead, Gwen Stefani would return to the chair. While it'll be great to see Stefani back (especially now that we know she's dating Blake!), I'll admit I'm going to miss Cyrus and her crazy outfits. But at least NBC reported that she'll be back in the red chair for Season 13.

While there's been a lot of noise about Cyrus' departure, there's not a lot of actual information surrounding the reasoning behind her decision to leave. There were rumors of a feud between Cyrus and Levine, but considering she's coming back for Season 13, I doubt that was the reason for her leaving. (Cyrus' rep did not immediately respond to Bustle's request for comment on those rumors or why she left in general.)

Maybe she really just wanted to take a break. She's totally allowed to do that! According to a source who spoke to US Weekly Cyrus was allegedly called "the show’s most devoted coach ever." That makes sense, considering that Cyrus herself is young and probably sees herself in a lot of younger performers and wants to work hard to mentor them and show them the ropes of the industry. In that respect, even if it's only a few months out of the year, judging can really take a lot out of you. I wouldn't fault the girl for wanting to take some time off.

Despite the fact Cyrus was one of the youngest judges, she was enthusiastic, funny, and always brought spirit to her judging role and the show in general. Plus, you can't say she wasn't qualified for it — have you heard her sing? I'm looking forward to Season 12, but I'll be more excited when Cyrus returns to the show.
