As the newest housewife on the 10-season spanning Real Housewives of Orange County , Meghan King Edmonds didn't necessarily know what she was getting herself into when she joined the Bravo reality series. And while some of the drama seems a little over-the-top, something good has come from Edmonds joining RHOC — she's been able to explore and develop her relationship with her stepdaughter Hayley Edmonds. While some would choose to have their personal lives kept away from the eyes of America, Megan's relationship with her stepdaughter has added a very relatable and authentic angle to Season 10, though Megan explains that it hasn't been easy. "It's been really difficult for me and Hayley to navigate this relationship," she says.
The two are seen frequently on the show acting more like girlfriends than stepmom/stepdaughter. The situation between the Edmonds family may not be traditional, but it definitely works for them. Meghan, Jim Edmonds, and his late wife, LeAnn Edmonds Horton — who recently passed away after a fearless fight with cancer — had a very good relationship. Both were seen on the show together helping Hayley get ready for a school dance, spending time together, and getting along.
For Meghan, exploring her relationship with Hayley on TV is difficult, but has also opened up a conversation and portal with fans of the show that are in similar situations. "It's really cool when people reach out to me that say, 'I have a similar experience,'" she says, "I love hearing that." Meghan also promises viewers that upcoming episodes will take a closer look at her relationship with Hayley, which seems extremely supportive and loving.
For Meghan, the support and outreach she receives from fans makes her feel like she isn't the only one going through her current situation. "It makes me say, 'I'm not so alone, I'm not so isolated. There are people out here that are like me,' and I love that."
In the midst of all the drama occurring throughout this of Real Housewives of Orange County, the relationship between Meghan and Hayley is a breath of fresh air. It may not always be perfect, but it's filled with love and gives viewers a peak inside the very real and genuine lives that these women live.
