It's Official: Macklemore Is A Dad

Well, it's official. After months of speculation, Macklemore announced he is a dad. On Wednesday, the rapper (real name Ben Haggerty) shared the exciting news via his official website, alongside a brand new song titled "Growing Up" with Ryan Lewis and featuring Ed Sheeran. In addition to confirming that he indeed did have a baby girl with his fiancée Tricia Davis in May 2015, he also shared her super sweet name: Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty. He wrote on his website,

Our daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty was born two months ago on May 29. There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into this universe. She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible. She is the love of my life. This song is for her.

In June 2015, rumors circulated that the couple welcomed their a baby after a photo surfaced on Instagram of a baby strapped to the "Thrift Shop" performer's chest. Neither the musician nor his fiancée confirmed the news of their latest addition, until now.

As you can see below, Macklemore also shared a photo of what I assume is either his hand or Davis' holding their daughter's tiny one. At the bottom of the announcement, you can see that Macklemore dedicated his new song to his baby girl and is calling it "Sloane's Song." So sweet.

If you head to his official website, you can download "Growing Up" for free. The song is extremely meaningful, as it focuses on Macklemore's fears when he first found out Davis was pregnant and how much he wants his little girl to be just like her mom. Definitely give it a listen, and be sure to read the birth and song announcement in its entirety.

Congrats to the rapper and his fiancée on their sweet daughter!
