How 'BB17's Clelli Will Survive Without Each Other

by Emily Lackey

If you’ve been watching the Big Brother live feeds, you know that it’s inevitable: Either Clay or Shelli is going home on Big Brother Thursday night. As much as I do not want to believe that it is true, it’s definitely going to happen — one of them is about to lose their "ride or die" in the house. (Unless, of course. some bizarre Big Brother twist comes along that saves both of them for the week.) So how will the one that gets left behind fare without their mate by their side?

I’m going to go ahead and say it: Probably not well.

Judging by how they are giving up almost entirely on the game, they know that whoever stays this week is as good as gone next week. But, that lack of trying is only going to hurt them in the long run.

Because not trying is an even bigger mistake than trying. You never know what is going to happen in the Big Brother house. For instance: Audrey stuck around for weeks after becoming everyone’s target, Austin is still in the house after almost being evicted, and John has been on the block more times than I can count (in fact, he’s still hanging in there and out of everyone’s sight line).

But, how do I think Clay or Shelli will do without the other one there? Terribly. At this point, I have zero faith in Clay being able to swing back into the good graces of the house if Shelli gets booted. He’s too emotional of a player. Shelli, to her credit, might be able to rally. I could see her pulling herself up by her bootstraps, teaming up with Becky, Meg, and Jackie, and pulling out an extra week in the house. If she’s at all smart, those are the people she’ll befriend in her last few days before eviction. Then, once Clay hopefully takes one for their love team and asks the house to vote him out, Shelli can strike it big with her new alliance, throwing Vanessa, Austin, Liz, and Julia under the eviction bus.

But, failing that, it’s likely that Shelli or Clay will totally screw up their chances of surviving in the game without each other. They’re already burned every bridge that they made so far. After that move, there really doesn’t seem to be a way for them to gracefully get out of this game.

Things change so quickly in the Big Brother house, it can be hard to keep up.
