Carly Rae Jepsen Pays Tribute To Summer Love

by Maggie Malach

Exciting news for Carly Rae Jepsen fans! The singer showed off her edgier side with "Warm Blood," her love for the '80s with "Your Type" and straight up blew our minds with "Run Away with Me." The singer isn't slowing down yet — she just released another new song, "Making the Most of the Night," and it's your new anthem to summer love.

This track is everything I love about Jepsen: It's energetic, heartfelt and, of course, impossible to get out of your head. One reason why the finished product is so amazing? According to Rolling Stone, Jepsen co-wrote "Making the Most of the Night" with Sia (!), Samuel Dixon, Emre Ramazanoglu and the Trinity, with production from the High Street.

"Making the Most of the Night" finds the singer head over heels for someone and she'll stop at nothing, and I mean nothing, to get to him. "Here I come now / Baby I'm speeding / And red lights I run / What I got you need it / And I'll run to your side when your heart is bleeding / I'm coming to getcha, to getcha, to getcha," she belts.

Don't worry, once you hear the emotion in Jepsen's voice, you'll know this promise is sweet and sincere.

She acknowledges that her man is going through a rough patch, singing, "You and me / We've been hanging around for the longest time / I know when you're down / Know what you need to get you high." In other words, she'll got his back and is doing what she can to help him.

As for the summery aspect of the song, it's totally upbeat and carefree. However, Jepsen's getaway vehicle also happens to be a warm weather-ready convertible. "Top down / Like the wind through your hair on a summer's night / Outside / All of your fears, leave them behind," she sings.

Jepsen's upcoming album E•MO•TION will be released on Aug. 21. You can listen to "Making the Most of the Night" in the video above!
