Kelly Clarkson Is An Old Pro At Motherhood

by Kadeen Griffiths

Kelly Clarkson is an inspiration to a lot of people in a lot of ways. Ever since American Idol launched her to superstardom, she has been making amazing music, or giving amazing advice, while taking a stand against such insidious modern problems such as fat shaming and Internet hate. Now, Clarkson is pregnant with her second baby, a fact she adorably let slip during the Los Angeles stop of her Piece By Piece tour, and I couldn't be happier for her. Just remembering how much love the pop singer showered on her first child, River Rose Blacktock makes me excited to see more pictures of her next child, and see her gush even more about her children and motherhood in every interview. In fact, Clarkson's quotes about motherhood are worth reflecting on.

Because if there is one thing that Clarkson is well-known for besides music and taking a stand, it's how proud she is to be a mother, and how freely she talks about River as though the little girl is the center of her entire world. (Which, admittedly, does seem to be the case.) I can't blame Clarkson, since, if it were me, I would spend all of my time indoors just pinching those cheeks and playing peek-a-boo until the sun comes down. And I can't think of a better way to prepare for Clarkson's second turn at motherhood than to take a look back at some of her best motherhood quotes.

"I've accomplished a lot, but I guess the biggest success I want is that whenever I die, people will say, 'She was so successful as a mother and as a wife.' That's kind of a big goal." —People Magazine

“I hope [River] tone-deaf and [becomes] anything else [but a performer] … a social worker, a lawyer, anything else." —People Magazine

5. That Time She Perfectly Described Our Reaction

"Seriously, I want to squeeze [River's] little cute face off!" —Twitter

6. When She Made A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

7. When She Proved Herself An Ally

"Oh, I don't care [what River's sexuality turns out to be]. I mean, here's what I hope for her: I just hope she finds love... You know, as long as she's happy, I don't care either way, and neither does my husband... Honestly, it's so funny, it doesn't even register in my world as different. I don't know why. But yeah, it doesn't. I'm glad it doesn't!" —PrideSource

I doubt there is anyone among us who was doubting that River was in good hands, but it's always nice to take a trip down memory lane and remember how amazing a mother Clarkson has already been even before she revealed her pregnancy with a second child. Could this family get any cuter? I don't even think so.
