Everyone Needs To Stop Judging Liztin On 'BB17'
Well, I'm not 100 percent sure how we got here but folks: it's time to talk about Austin and Liz possibly having sex in the Big Brother house. I know! You don't want to, I don't want to, but there are a few things that need to be said. Let's just get through this together, and then get back to our regularly scheduled BB17 scheming. OK, the facts are these. Austin came onto the show with a girlfriend. He and Liz developed feelings for each other, despite everyone's better instincts — including those of Liz's twin sister Julia. They were incredibly cozy for a while, until Austin finally asked Liz to be his girlfriend.
The entire world freaked out, and news broke that Austin and his girlfriend have an open relationship, which actually makes the most sense ever. Now Liztin are together, and everyone is trying to determine who can trust who, and which one of them will be thrown under the bus — you know, regular Big Brother relationship issues. Separately, Austin and Liz really aren't so bad. Together, they are, well, kind of gross and pretty annoying. But so are a lot of couples in their first few weeks of dating! Suffice it to say, they haven't been winning many fans.
So, the two of them actively getting down in the house — allegedly anyway — has caused an even bigger firestorm of hate and general icky-ness. Which, I get. It's not the cutest thing I've ever seen, and, since they've opened up their lives to be on camera, everyone gets to be involved in this. But two people in a relationship getting it on is also not a big deal at all, and shouldn't be made into a big thing. These are two grown adults doing what they want in the (non) privacy of their own (well, borrowed) house. Unconventional? Sure. A little gross? Only because Austin's hair, and a bunch of cameras, is involved. Aside from that, this should be officially categorized as no big deal.
In fact, the only reason this should matter to anyone not named Liz, Austin, or Austin's super chill girlfriend is if this impacts either one of their strategies. If it does, then, yeah, let's talk power plays. Because Big Brother is all about playing the game, and, as long as they are doing that, who really cares what goes on under the covers?
