Tanner's 'BiP' Speech Vs. Marcus' Speech

by Nicole Pomarico

This season of Bachelor in Paradise began with the wedding of Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd a year after they met on the show's first season, and I had hoped that we'd see another success story. Fortunately that's exactly what we got. After a summer in Paradise spent getting to know each other, going on sweet dates, and generally being a bright spot of calm, rational thought in a sea of emotion and drama, Jade and Tanner got engaged on the Bachelor in Paradise finale. And, compared to Marcus and Lacy's proposal, Jade and Tanner's was just as sweet in its own special way.

Were Jade and Tanner a little boring this season? Yes. But as far as relationships go, boring can be good. They haven't known each other long, but it's so obvious that they're right for each other — and who can deny that they make a super gorgeous couple? And, now that the impossible has happened and Jade and Tanner fell in love enough to commit their lives (OK, probably more like the next six months) to each other, they already have one thing in common with Lacy and Marcus. But, after seeing their proposal, it's obvious that the way Marcus popped the question is just as special as how Tanner asked Jade to spend the rest of her life with him.

This Was Marcus' Big Speech To Lacy:

When it came time for roses, Marcus chose to take Lacy aside and emotionally express how he felt about her — and it was super adorable. There were tears, and if it wasn't such an ABC Bachelor franchise back drop, I would have thought I was watching the proposal of a couple who had been together a lot longer than just a few weeks. They're so cute!

Here's This Season's Epic Proposal With Tanner And Jade:

Here's the transcript, because you don't want to forget this one.

Jade:

Coming into Paradise, I didn't have any expectations of anybody, let alone falling in love with somebody. I was totally skeptical, this has been so unexpected in the most wonderful way. I've never met somebody who makes me feel the way I feel when I'm with you and I love so many things about you. I love how our mornings are like our favorite time and you make me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, and worthy, and understood, which I don't think I've ever felt from a man before, and I think that although Paradise is ending, I have a sense of peace about it because I know that we both want to work on our future together and I love you so much.

And then, after she gave Tanner her rose, he said:

Jade, as you know, I came to paradise expecting nothing but some free drinks and a good time on the beach, but then I met you and that changed everything. Paradise with you has been truly perfect. But when I think about the real world, it's different. I can't give you this rose today, because what we have is worth so much more than a rose, than a million roses. I love you, Jade, and I want to keep on loving you for the rest of my entire life. Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?

As you can see, compared to Marcus and Lacy, Jade and Tanner's own engagement was just as adorable, but in a totally different way. Jade and Tanner seem so confident in their relationship, and there were way less tears than in Marcus and Lacy's proposal.

In conclusion? Whether or not this relationship lasts, Jade and Tanner are crazy cute... and, let's face it, so are Marcus and Lacy, who are now happily married after a year together. Here's to the next lifetime together — or six months, whatever works.
