Amber Portwood Reveals Sad Truth

This is really sad, but, at the same time, not particularly surprising either — it was clear if you watched Teen Mom for even a minute that she was messed up on something, so the fact that Amber Portwood admitted that she was high while filming Teen Mom isn't particularly shocking. Just very, very sad.

The admission came during a new interview on Dr. Phil, her first since being released from prison early about two months ago. "This is actually my first time on stage sober, so I'm really nervous," Portwood reportedly told Dr. Phil in the interview, which is set to air Friday, Dec. 20. "Every time you see me on [Teen Mom], I am high."

For those of you who haven't seen Portwood on Teen Mom — well, there are just a few things to know about the troubled mother's stint on the series. She got into numerous physical and verbal confrontations with the father of her daughter, Gary, sometimes while their daughter was in the room. She's also had a ton of run-ins with the law for drug possession, which is why the fact that she was high during Teen Mom filming isn't that shocking of a revelation.

"Before prison, I never thought about [my daughter] Leah," Portwood has said. "I was addicted to drugs and didn’t care about anything else. … Prison saved my life — and gave me a second chance at being a mother."

Portwood was originally sentenced to five years in prison after violating her probation for drug possession. She was released after 17 months, though, in early November.
