What Will Zendaya's Barbie Wear?
Have you heard the good news yet? Zendaya is officially getting her own Barbie. Mattel will be presenting her with the one-of-a-kind doll, and it comes with just about the most empowering message ever (according to Entertainment Weekly, Zendaya is being honored with the Barbie for encouraging young women to "raise their voices"). Awesome inspirational-ness aside, here's the million-dollar question: What will Zendaya's Barbie wear? Well, as fate would have it, her outfit is as meaningful as it is iconic — after all, the doll is inspired in part by the graceful way in which she handled Giuliana Rancic's ultra-offensive Fashion Police comments at last year's Academy Awards — so what better for the Zendaya Barbie to wear than Vivienne Westwood, paired, of course, with dreadlocks?
I can't think of anyone else who would make a better Barbie than Zendaya — seriously, is there anyone cooler or deserving? Whether she's gracefully educating Giuliana Rancic, speaking out against Internet trolls, or kicking ass in Taylor Swift music videos, it's tough to find a more awesome or empowering young star... so it totally makes sense that she's getting her own Barbie doll from Mattel.
Along with the newly opposable ankles, the Zendaya Barbie is a nice step forward for the brand, and as Zendaya herself put it in a press release, "I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices." It's been established that the new doll will feature Zendaya's iconic Oscars look, but what other outfits should Mattel send Zendaya's way? Here are a few options they should consider:
Her Miss America Gown
It doesn't get much better than pageant-ready spangly Michael Kors number, right?
Her Teen Choice Awards Separates
We all know how Barbie loves her ruffles...
Her Billboard Awards Suit
So amazing it's ridiculous (or is it vice versa?).
Her Kids' Choice Awards Ensemble
OK, to be fair, this probably already exists as a Barbie outfit.
Her Black Nativity Premiere Outfit
Come on, Barbie and tulle go hand in hand.
Her Grammys Gown
OK, as if the Oscars Vivienne Westwood number wasn't fab enough, Zendaya also wore this fab one-shouldered gown from the line to the Grammys.
Her Met Gala Dress
Come on, this Fausto Puglisi number positively screams "Limited Edition Barbie." And I mean that in the best way possible.
Here's to hoping Zendaya's Barbie will have about a million red carpet looks to choose from.
