Karlie Kloss Mixes High-Low Style On Red Carpet

It's certainly no surprise when Taylor Swift's BFF makes an appearance and looks stunning, but her chic, sophisticated style always ends up being a little unexpected. That was exactly the story with Karlie Kloss' black peplum ensemble, which she wore to Vogue China's 10th anniversary in Milan earlier this week.

Yes, it's true that Kloss could wear a potato sack and still look gorgeous. And yes, it's also true that her style is always lust-worthy and she never really disappoints. But when it comes to her clothing choices, anything could happen. It's really difficult to tell what kind of look she'll rock at an event because her style is so unique and original. Although she looks consistently amazing, she's also unpredictable. That's a big reason why I admire Kloss' personal style.

This recent ensemble has to be one of my favorites, which is saying something. While I'm not exactly sure whether it was a dress or a skirt and blouse combination, it doesn't even matter because it was so beautiful. The entire outfit was made from a shiny, black satin material that reflected the light but also made her look like she was glowing beneath the camera flashes. The bottom was fitted with a short hem, while the top featured a strapless neckline with a big peplum-style ruffle right around her waist.

This little black outfit would be the perfect choice for a night out, a black tie event, or even a nice dinner. And while it seems basic, it has feminine, interesting details that make it unique and pretty, thus making it perfect for an It-girl like Kloss.

The accessories she chose to wear also made this outfit stand out. She sported a black watch and a matching black satin clutch that went great with her dress. Instead of rocking a traditional statement necklace, she wore a thin black neck scarf that added a whole gamine aspect to ensemble. In addition to the scarf, she also wore white high-heeled sandals that were the only non-black item in her outfit. They certainly stood out.

This look was surely an unexpected choice, but when it comes to Kloss, it ultimately makes total sense.
