Why 'RHOC' Fans Should Be On Team Meghan

by Marenah Dobin

I wasn't sure what to expect when we were first introduced to Meghan King Edmonds on Season 10 of Real Housewives of Orange County . But one thing is for sure, she did not take a backseat to the action this season. She had no hesitation swimming with the sharks, particularly with the OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson. Meghan has no qualms being a new girl who stands up for herself. She will not going to let anyone push her around and I love her for that. Things got really dicey with Meghan and Vicki this season due to rampant accusations that Vicki's on-again, off-again boyfriend Brooks Ayers allegedly lied about having cancer, and I'm sure RHOC fans are picking sides.

In my opinion, everyone should be Team Meghan in this instance, and I'll tell you why. Being a member of Team Meghan does not necessarily mean that you are against Vicki. Team Meghan is not combative for the sake of stirring up drama for a television show. Team Meghan is caring and in search of the truth, because when it really comes down to it, Meghan was just looking out for Vicki and her well-being. So, if you really think about it, supporting Meghan is supporting Vicki.

As for Brooks, he commented to Us Weekly , "Meghan has scoffed that ‘Oh my God, Brooks is threatening to sue me.’ But what people don’t know is I have sent her a formal letter from my attorney… demanding certain things, and I do have significant grounds if she doesn’t change her ways and she’s got an opportunity to do that. [This is] defamation. I’m hitting back. She has a chance to make it right and we’ll see if she does or not."

I understand that my point of view might seem a little controversial to Vicki die-hards, but hear me out. Yes, Meghan did put Vicki's personal matters on blast, but Vicki is a cast member on a reality show and they are supposed to live their lives in front of the camera. And Meghan did not pull her theory out of nowhere. There has been a lot of evidence that could lead her to doubt Brooks. Putting blame on Meghan is simply a way to detract from the real issue: Brooks' effect on Vicki and her family.(Remember that part where her daughter is pulling away because of Brooks?)

Meghan was coming from a place of concern when she raised questions about Brooks and his health. She has a history with cancer with her own scare in addition to her good friend and her husband's ex-wife LeAnn Edmonds Horton recently dying from the disease. This means that she has experience and knowledge to notice things that other people might not. This whole storyline definitely snowballed into something that no one expected, but Meghan should not be blamed for it all. All she did was ask caring questions and point out things she saw as holes in Brooks' claims because she was afraid that Vicki was being deceived by her boyfriend in a very public way.

RHOC fans should be Team Meghan because Team Meghan is not malicious, pot stirring, or defamatory. Team Meghan is caring, well-informed, and inquisitive. And when it comes down to it, wouldn't you rather have a loud voice with good intentions rather than a closed mouth hiding genuine concerns?
