Why You Won't See Rihanna In Another Naked Dress
If you're starting to get pretty tired of the naked dress trend (it's just been done so many times), no worries, because you're not alone. According to Fashionista, Rihanna is over the naked dress, and she's pretty influential so there's a definite chance this trend might die. R.I.P?
Rihanna covers Vanity Fair's November 2015 issue (slaying it with her red hair and jumpsuit, BTW), and in her interview, she opens up to the glossy about her arguably most memorable fashion choice to date. I'm of course talking about her 2014 CFDA Awards dress, which was a custom Adam Selman and was crystal-embellished and completely see-through. We're talking boobs, butt, abs — literally everything was on display. And she looked fan-freaking-tastic. Major shoutout to her pink fur wrap, too.
But take an extra second to relish in that moment, because we won't be seeing the singer like that again for a while. “I wanted to wear something that looked like it was floating on me. But after that, I thought, OK , we can’t do this again for a while. No nipples, no sexy sh*t, or it’s going to be like a gimmick. That night was like a last hurrah; I decided to take a little break from that and wear clothes," Rihanna told Vanity Fair.
She looked flawless — but she's right. The trend has definitely gone viral, given how many times it's now been seen on the red carpet, so creds to her for not overdoing it. And given her red carpet fashion choices since then, I'd say she's stuck to her word.
