The Only 'Miley, What's Good' Costumes You Need

by Jennifer Still

When it comes to Halloween, a lot of people will tell you it's a holiday for kids. We're too old for trick-or-treating, sure, but that doesn't mean we can't still get together a bomb costume and hit up an adult costume party. If you've got that exact plan this October 31, you don't want to just go in any old costume. You want something unique and special, something that will make you stand up from the crowd and be remembered for years to come. Don't worry, I've got just the idea for you: why not make a "Miley, what's good?" costume and go as possibly the best meme of 2015? You're welcome!

In case you've been living under a rock (no shame — it happens to me all the time) and don't get the reference, "Miley, what's good?" is the legendary phrase that came out of Nicki Minaj's mouth while on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year to Miley Cyrus, obviously. This was due to comments Cyrus had made in the press around that time about Minaj's run-in with Taylor Swift on Twitter — comments which completely missed the point and weren't really any of her business, anyway. But that's done and over with, while "Miley, what's good?" is here to stay.

You've got a few options if you want to go make a costume for this amazing meme, and I'll run through a few ideas for each of them.

Miley's Reaction

Miley's reaction to Nicki's confrontation is absolutely timeless, particularly because it was clearly so unexpected. The face is easy enough to get down — just walk around with a wide smile that gradually fades into a face that says, "Oh, sh*t." You'll also need a few fashion accessories to complete the look, and I'm here to help.

First, you'll need to grab a blonde ponytail extension. This should clip right into your actual hair (and no worries if your actual hair is dark — it'll add to the charm). To accompany it, you'll need a pink see-through visor, which is easy to come by, as well.

For the outfit, you'll need to get a bit more creative. Try sewing a pillow shaped like a set of lips to a red skirt for the bottom, while sporting a tie-dye bandeau top with it. You'll be freakishly cold because it's October, but you'll get the look down pat.

Nicki Minaj

It's hard to ever capture Nicki's flyness in its entirety, but we can at least make a real effort to get it here by putting on the best attitude we can find (seriously, practice your line in front of the mirror) so that you can deliver your "Miley, what's good?" to every person you come across on October 31. Your look will need to match your fierceness, so let's start with a black wig, which should be accompanied with some amazing cat eye done with thick liquid liner (your brand of choice will work fine).

Actual moonman replicas are pretty expensive (but they do exist), but you can grab a gold astronaut figurine thing that's close enough — and only $10! — to do the trick. You'll need this in hand to wave around with abandon as you repeat your line.

When it comes to the dress, there's no way you can get anything close to Nicki's incredible gold sequin see-through number, but you can get something close: a floor length gold sequined gown, and that'll do just nicely.

The Actual Phrase

If you're lazy like me, you can always just get a white poster board and a giant Sharpie and write "Miley, what's good?" on it and hang it around your neck. It's not a crappy costume, it's minimalist. You're letting the genius of the phrase speak for itself, and that's very big of you.
