We Can Hear the Shakira & RiRi Song Already

by Kristie Rohwedder

Preemptively adding this to the "Favorite Duets" list that I have on my iPad: "Can't Remember to Forget" by Shakira and Rihanna will hit airwaves Jan. 13. Back in Dec., Pitbull revealed Rihanna was his original choice for the hook on "Timber," but she couldn't do it because she was busy working on a song with Shakira (!!!). However, said heads-up from Mr. Worldwide couldn't have prepped me for how excited I was Monday morning when I saw Shakira and Rihanna's tweets regarding the song's official release date. It's real! It's happening!

This pairing could not bring me more joy. I am always so happy when female artists join forces because GIRL POWER. It doesn't hurt that Rihanna and Shakira are two of my favorites. Their unique, powerful vocals plus their amazing pop sensibilities? MATCH MADE IN MUSIC HEAVEN.

I must address a little thing I like to call "The Ability To Dance Like Nobody's Business." Shak and Rih both possess said ability. If the music video for "Can't Remember to Forget" features Shak and Rih cutting rugs, the music video will be a flawless victory.

And as if everything I've mentioned wasn't enough, there's "The Duo Factor." Shak and Rih have proven time and time again that they're not only incredible solo artists, but they're also strong collaborators. Both of them have a lot of experience teaming up with other artists, and the results have been super, so I have very, very high hopes for "Can't Remember to Forget." To get you in the mood, here are a few of my favorite Shakira and Rihanna collabos:

"Beautiful Liar" Beyoncé & Shakira

"Umbrella" Rihanna feat. Jay Z

"All of the Lights" Kanye West feat. Rihanna (plus 13 other singers!)

"Hips Don't Lie" Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean

"Loca" feat. El Cata

"Take Care" Drake feat. Rihanna & "What's My Name?" Rihanna feat. Drake

"La Tortura" feat. Alejandro Sanz

"Love the Way You Lie" Eminem feat. Rihanna

"S&M" (Remix) Rihanna feat. Britney Spears

Okay, it wasn't a duet to begin with, but the remix is something to behold. And it belongs on this list.

To quote Dashboard Confessional: "My hopes for 'Can't Remember to Forget' are so high that the song might kill me."
