These Are The Year's Best Halloween Costumes

by Eliza Castile

Although it's not a widely-recognized holiday, I've always thought of Nov. 1 as National Regrets and Shame Day, celebrated by candy-stuffed children, their exhausted parents, and hungover young adults nationwide. As we question our every choice made during this year's Halloween, let's distract ourselves from the pain by looking at the best Halloween costumes of 2015, shall we? (In case you're wondering, other typical ways to the observe the holiday include swearing you'll never touch another candy bar again, laying around in a blanket burrito all day waiting to digest all the chocolate and tequila you forced upon your poor body last night, and, of course, listening to Justin Bieber's "Sorry" on repeat until the neighbors beg you to stop. Fun times!)

But I digress. The advent of the Internet is perhaps the greatest thing to happen to Halloween costumes — not only does it provide a wealth of tutorials for the casual enthusiast, but it also encourages all the really intense Halloween lovers to one-up each other's costumes every year. I'm not talking about people like the goddess-among-mortals Heidi Klum, whose Halloween costumes are the stuff of legend. As incredible as the results may be, Klum and other celebrities have thousands of dollars to drop on costumes and literal teams of makeup artists devoted to their transformations. It's not exactly a fair fight to pit them against us regular folk, who are working with a budget of six dollars and whatever weird clothes we've squirreled away in our closets over the years.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the best Halloween costumes of 2015, as created and worn by regular people. Whether they're witty, spooky, sexy, or any combination of the above, these costumes deserve a round of applause — and perhaps some extra Halloween candy, if I hadn't already eaten all of mine. In the immortal words of the Biebz, "Sorry."
