A VS Angel Inspired Selena's Colored Contacts

From all the Tweets, Snapchats, and Instagram photos, it seems like the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show went off without a hitch. But if there's one thing that really stood out (besides, you know, all the girls in their undies), it was the fact that musical guest Selena Gomez wore colored contacts and looked distinctly different than her natural, brown-eyed self. And we now know why the singer decided to switch up her look for her performance.

“I was genuinely inspired by Adriana," Gomez told E! The Adriana she's referring to here is, naturally, Adriana Lima — the 34-year-old VS Angel who now has 16 (16!!!) total Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows under her belt. Gomez went on to explain, "I wanted to feel like a VS Angel, so I got the spray tan, got the blow out, did a little look with the eyes.”

And can you blame her? Performing alongside a bunch of supermodels obviously calls for something special, and Gomez went the subtly dramatic look with her colored contact lenses. It only makes sense that she took inspiration from one of Victoria's Secrets shining stars. Isn't that what you'd do if you were performing at the iconic runway event? Gomez absolutely rocked the look, while still managing to look like herself.

The contacts were a dusky blue that totally complemented her skin (that spray tan was worth it!), and her voluminous hair. There certainly was an uncanny similarity between Gomez and Lima. In fact, Bustle writer Kali Borovic called it in her initial article about Gomez's colored contacts. They really do look a tiny bit alike!

Since Gomez describes Lima as "her favorite model," it's a no-brainer that she was going to channel the Brazilian beauty for her first performance on the VS runway. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
