Joe Jonas Debuts His Post-Breakup Hair Makeover

by Jessica Willingham

Breakups ain't easy, but that's what the beauty salon is for. Whether it's Miranda Lambert going platinum (or pink) when the going gets rough or Miley cutting her hair into a pixie, we know that a dramatic style change is a go-to coping method for celebs. The latest star to join the "broken hearted with badass hair" club is Gigi Hadid's former flame: Joe Jonas debuted blue hair during a performance on Monday night, because post-breakup makeovers are for boys, too.

Jonas was dating super model and Victoria's Secret Angel Gigi Hadid for five months before breaking it off earlier this month due to schedule differences. He's been super busy touring with his new band, DNCE — the same group whose video, "Cake by the Ocean," was directed by Jonas' former girlfriend. (Eesh.) Alas, however, these two beautiful people couldn't make it work and had to go their separate ways. Jonas was spotted out and about with an electric blue streak in his hair on Monday night, and I knew immediately it was the classic post-breakup beauty remix. I needed to know more about his new 'do, so I spoke with Laura Estroff, the hair stylist and mastermind behind his electric, cool blue look.

"Joe is currently touring with his new band, DNCE, and was looking for a bit of a change," said Laura Estroff of Kennaland in Brooklyn. "He came in with a few images for inspiration and in order to achieve the look, we first had to lift his hair to a clean white. I used a combination of colors to create a customized blue specifically for Joe." Because Joe Jonas deserves nothing less than custom, ladies!

"I also created a custom conditioner using Evo's Fabuloso Pro so he can maintain the color while on tour with DNCE."

Really, it's not a huge change but more like the slight bit of sass one needs post-split. Remember 'Randa's dip dyed pink hair? Same simple, but sleek concept. However, we usually don't see guys going straight for the hair when they're trying to bounce back. Leave it to Joe Jonas to be a trendsetter!

I think it looks subtly cool and he's obviously having a good time with it.

It certainly takes center stage under those lights.

Front and center, and it's looking pretty good!

Will Joe Jonas go pink or green next? Only time will tell. For now, I'm loving the blue — and so is he!
