Has Drake Ever Won Any Grammys?

by Jamie Primeau

The most wonderful time of year is almost here. Nope, I'm not talking about the holidays; I mean award show season. Luckily, the Grammys are right around the corner! OK, I may be getting a little ahead of myself — the show doesn't actually air until February, but the 2016 Grammy nominees will be announced on Monday, Dec. 7. That means it's not too soon to speculate who will take home music's biggest trophies. One likely contender? Drake. Sure, he may be the subject of memes, but Drizzy is still super talented. After all, the Toronto native really did "start from the bottom" and now he's here to stay. While Drake is likely to scoop up a few Grammy nominations, has he ever actually won any awards? The short answer: Yes. But the more accurate answer is that it's nowhere near as many as he deserves.

Over the course of his career, Drake has been nominated for a whopping 22 Grammys. That's pretty impressive! In 2015, the singer received several nominations: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. He also was included in Beyoncé's Best Album nomination, since they collaborated on the song "Mine." Back in 2010, he received his first Grammy nomination for "Best I Ever Had."

Despite the slew of nominations, Drake has only snagged one actual trophy. Unbelievable, right? In 2013, Drake won Best Rap Album for Take Care . This was his second studio album and featured tracks like "Marvins Room" and "HYFR." Obviously, the win was well-deserved, but I still don't love those statistics. Only one award out of 22 nominations? Here's hoping this year things change.

Whether he has the awards to show for it or not, Drake has been making hits ever since his early days. And as much as people love to parody the "Hotline Bling" video, his dorky dance moves shouldn't take away from the fact that the track is incredibly catchy. (And let's be real, he's the only one who can pull off those moves!)

Even if the Grammys don't acknowledge his talent, Drizzy will always be a winner in my book.
