After weeks of eliminating singers one by one, this week The Voice Season 9 will cut the field from the Top 9 contestants to a mere four to vie to be the winner. I hope Zach Seabaugh sticks around, because not only does the Blake Shelton-coached singer have a great voice, he's pretty easy on the eyes. To hear (and see) for yourself, you need to check out some essential Zach Seabaugh covers that prove he has the potential to take him this season's trophy. And, he's only 17 years old — can you believe it?
The Marietta, Georgia native has been charming viewers on the show with his renditions of Steve Holy's "Brand New Girlfriend," Little Texas' "My Love," and Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" — along with some of his Elvis-channeling pelvic thrusts. Seabaugh actually quit his high school football team to pursue music instead of athletics and it seems to be working out well for him. And, he's definitely picked up some steam late in the game of the live playoffs. “The intensity has picked up,” Zach told the Atlanta Journal Constitution once the eliminations began. “Seeing people go home, it gave me a wake-up call to work even harder.”
But, Seabaugh's Voice covers aren't the only ones you can enjoy. Take a listen to the ones below.
1. "Friends In Low Places" By Garth Brooks
Flashback to 2008: Seabaugh was eight — yes, eight — years old and belting this legendary country song about drinking the blues away while strumming on his guitar and sitting on a pool table.
2. "Chicken Fried" By Zac Brown Band
In this video dated 2010, a cute and young Seabaugh strums and sings the hit song while showing his early star power.
3. "Mistletoe" By Justin Bieber
One young singer covers another in this video from 2011. Seabaugh sings the Biebs' Christmas tune flawlessly in this charming acoustic cover.
4. "Free" By Zac Brown Band
After his Blind Audition and before the live playoffs, Seabaugh returned to Marietta and performed this cover at the local Kiwanis center.
5. "For The First Time" By The Script
Seabaugh soulfully takes on this song with expert vocals
6. "Take Your Time" By Sam Hunt
And, here's the cover that began Seabaugh's Voice journey in September. Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams turned around for the young singer. "You have something in your voice that just rattled the room," Shelton said, right before Seabaugh chose the country singer as his coach.
Clearly, Seabaugh has enough talent to power him to The Voice semifinals — but we shall find out if the votes said the same thing.
