The Gay Beards Do The 12 Days Of Christmas

by Marc Cuenco

I've never been one to envy guys who can grow a beard... until now. In their latest attempt at winning the beard game, the Gay Beards decorated their facial hair with ornaments in the spirit of "The Twelve Days of Christmas." The viral duo who made Glitter Beards a social media phenomenon is closing out the year in truly colorful style.

Portland-based best friends Brian Delaurenti and Johnathan Dahl (aka the Gay Beards), have been known each other since they were eight. They launched their Instagram page in October 2014 after Delaurenti, an artist and photographer, began growing out his facial hair. The duo started posting photos of their beards adorned with everything from Legos, to fake flowers, to cocktail umbrellas.

"We usually have creative sessions at least once per week, but sometimes things spark ideas for us in everyday life," the Gay Beards said. "Depending on what we are putting in our beards, it can take anywhere from 20 minutes all the way up to two hours or more (i.e. the glitter beards)." Following the success of their Glitter Beard tutorial on YouTube, the Gay Beards decided to take things a step further by decorating their faces with holiday ornaments like balls, fake snow, and (of course) glitter.

The duo followed it up with an homage to "White Christmas."

And the most basic ornament decorating every Christmas tree: colorful, shiny balls.

They are currently on their fourth photo of the 12-day project, which pays tribute to holiday wreaths.

I can't wait to see what else Delaurenti and Dahl have in store for the rest of the 12 days of Christmas project.
