by Dino-Ray Ramos

The release of The Force Awakens is on Dec. 18, seven days away from Christmas and in the middle of the holiday gift-giving season. Coincidence? I think not. The force is very strong with the marketing geniuses behind Star Wars, because it is the perfect time to release a movie that comes with plenty of merchandising opportunities. From Death Star cookie jars to anything related to the new lovable BB-8 droid, there is a Star Wars gift out there for any fair-weathered or diehard fan. And it goes without saying that there are a fair share of Star Wars holiday gifts for the tech lovers in your life available.

The world has come a long way since the days of A New Hope in 1977. There are some pieces of technology seen in that movie that are realities today: droids, holograms, bionic hands, and hovercrafts.
