Taylor Swift Is Giving Us A Real Rockin' NYE

by Amy Mackelden

Stop everything! Major Taylor Swift news this Tuesday. Swift isn't done with 1989 just yet. Despite wrapping up her epic 1989 tour earlier in 2015, and already releasing five singles from the album ("Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Style," "Bad Blood," and, most recently, "Wildest Dreams"), 1989 still has more love to give. On New Year's Eve, Swift will give us all the greatest New Year's gift ever — Swift will release a music video for "Out Of The Woods," which will premiere on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest. This is some of the best news I've heard all year, and, considering that 2015 has been pretty amazing, that's no mean feat. Now the big question is, what can we expect from the video for "Out Of The Woods"?

The song is rumored to be about Harry Styles — will this fact feature in the video? Will any of Swift's famous BFFs cameo? Will Taylor Swift be on New Year's Rockin' Eve to announce the premiere of "Out Of The Woods?" So many questions! Perhaps the biggest question is why is Swift releasing another single from 1989? With five huge hits under her belt, and the album having come out over a year ago (in October 2014), why is Swift releasing yet another music video? Why now?

While there aren't many details yet about the "Out Of The Woods" single, The Hollywood Reporter says, "The show kicks off at 8 p.m. ET, although it's not clear exactly what time the music video will drop, or if Swift herself will be in attendance to introduce it." News of Swift's new video is sure to increase viewership of New Year's Rockin' Eve, as Taylor Swift music video premieres are legendary.

Swift has spoken quite a lot about the inspiration for "Out Of The Woods," namely her relationship with Harry Styles. Describing the relationship before an acoustic performance of the song at the Clive Davis Theater in L.A., Swift said, "The number one feeling I felt in the whole relationship was anxiety. Because it felt very fragile, it felt very tentative." So it seems likely that the video for "Out Of The Woods" will explore these feelings in some way, and possibly document a similar relationship.

When Swift released the music video for her single "Style," there was much speculation that the footage was originally meant for "Out Of The Woods," especially as it featured so much nature imagery, a moody relationship narrative and, allegedly, Harry Styles's necklace! Several sources seemed to confirm that Taylor Swift was, in fact, shooting the video for "Out Of The Woods" in New Zealand in November 2015, and speculated as to whether BFF Lorde would be featured in it.

The countdown to New Year has well and truly begun, especially as it's now coupled with a Taylor Swift exclusive. Not to be forgotten, or overshadowed by Adele's recent mega-success, Taylor Swift is ending 2015 with a bang.
