Let's Talk About J. Law's 2014 Golden Globes Dress

by Sienna Fantozzi

We're less than a week away from the 2016 Golden Globe Awards, and as excited as I am to see who is going to take home each award, let's be real: I'm more excited for the red carpet. Given that she always brings her fashion A-game and I have yet to see her look anything less than flawless, it seems appropriate to throwback to Jennifer Lawrence's 2014 Golden Globe Awards dress. I mean, 2014 was the last time she won a Globe, maybe remember it will bring her some luck for this year! Not that she needs it, or anything...

Even though we can always expect J.Law to be wearing Dior on the red carpet, she still surprises us and outdoes herself literally every time. You'd think it would get boring seeing her wear the same designer over and over, but nope. Never does. Because she's flawless, duh.

Part of why I love Lawrence's style so much is because she always wears something elegant, polished, and timeless, but she never takes herself too seriously (I mean, you can't forget her epic Oscar's fall), and her styling always helps keep her more sophisticated ensembles from aging her. And her white Dior gown from 2014 was no exception.

Though some found her strapless, white dress to be a bit underwhelming, I personally loved it. It was simple and minimalist, which is usually more appropriate for the Globes, but still managed to make a statement. The billowing silhouette brought femininity, but the black detailing contrasted against the white played to tuxedo dressing, and gave it a bit of a menswear feel, too.

I also could not get enough of her pixie cut back in this era, and her dark makeup helped bring some edge to the elegant gown, making it feel more young and fun.

And then there were her jewels. The slightly art deco bracelets and ring, contrasted with her dark polish perfectly merged glam with edge.

And however great it looked on the red carpet, it looked even better on stage. But you know when it looked best?

With her award, duh! I can't wait to see what she wears this weekend.
