18 Of David Bowie & Iman's Sweetest Photos
As millions around the world mourn the loss of David Bowie, there is one person who is undoubtedly mourning on the most personal of levels: his wife, Iman. Bowie and Iman, who were married for 23 years at the time of the legendary singer's death at 69, had a longtime love that most Hollywood couples could only hope to replicate. The power couple, who share one daughter, 15-year-old Lexi, frequently gushed about one another in interviews and often looked at each other adoringly in candid red carpet shots. Theirs was a love that was almost palpable in public, as evidenced by their frequent grins and subtle, sweetly affectionate moments. Bowie and Iman's sweetest photos tell a love story that is truly one for the ages.
On the day of Bowie's death, Jan. 10, but seemingly before he passed, Iman took to Twitter to share the following message: "The struggle is real. But so is God." Bowie's rep said that the singer died "surrounded by his family."
For a marriage that consisted of an iconic rocker and a supermodel, Bowie and Iman emphasized the relative normalcy of their love.
"I fell in love with David Jones. Bowie is just a persona," Iman told The Guardian in 2014, using the singer's real name. "He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met." It's something that Bowie himself said almost a decade earlier in 2005: "When I am with my family, I am David Jones, very much."
It's clear that even at public events Bowie's on-stage persona melted away when he was looking at his wife — and the two were no longer the glamorous Iman and the eccentric pop icon David Bowie, but just a perfectly complimentary couple, happy in love. And the 18 pictures below more than prove that.
