On the day of Bowie's death, Jan. 10, but seemingly before he passed, Iman took to Twitter to share the following message: "The struggle is real. But so is God." Bowie's rep said that the singer died "surrounded by his family."

"I fell in love with David Jones. Bowie is just a persona," Iman told The Guardian in 2014, using the singer's real name. "He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met." It's something that Bowie himself said almost a decade earlier in 2005: "When I am with my family, I am David Jones, very much."
