LB Wasn't Feeling 'The Bachelor'

by Lindsay Denninger

Bachelor Rose ceremonies are high-stress situations. The contestants are thinking, “Will I get picked? Am I going home? Should I not have broken up with my college sweetheart for this?” Everybody wants to stay on the show… until some of them don’t, and those are my favorite people. In real life, you know when you’re in a relationship that’s not working. So what do you do? You leave. But in Bachelor Nation, so many people don’t do this. They just want to win! I happen to love the people who know themselves well enough to bail early, and on Ben Higgins' season of The Bachelor , that person is LB, aka Lauren Barr (there are like 6 Laurens so there are now nicknames). But, why did LB leave The Bachelor ?

During the rose ceremony, Lauren knew that, in her limited time with Ben, that she wasn’t feeling him as a partner. Sure, he’s a perfectly good guy, but for whatever reason, she didn’t think they were compatible. So, when he called her name, she asked if she could talk to him. LB and Ben met in the hallway, and she told him she was bowing out, heading home. See ya later, gator! Basically, it totally ruled that she just left.

Why? On The Bachelor, so many people discount their own nagging feelings about the Bachelor or Bachelorette. Not every person is going to be compatible with Ben. That’s just science! So LB knowing herself and what she was comfortable with well enough to say, “Hey, this just isn’t for me.” In a world where everyone is so desperate to be with the Bachelor or Bachelorette, LB knew it wasn’t going to work out for her and Ben and she went on to live her life. Good for her!
