2005 Was A Surprisingly Good Fashion Year

11 years ago, in 2005 celebrities were sporting current fashion trends that you could maybe see in present day Vogue. While 2005 was within the era of terrifying fashion, there were a few hidden gems amidst the frosted tips, tie-on halters, and platform flip flops, a few of which are found here.

Those hidden gems were translated to some of 2016's biggest trends: cut out dresses, metallics, bobs, chokers, smokey eyes, et cetera. Nowadays we see the metamorphoses of these Oscars and Golden Globes dresses on the likes of celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lawrence. Recycled fashion is common practice amongst designers as long as there is a new twist to each design.

This being said, it is nice thinking that we can look back at fashion over the years and see continuity (or the opposite) in both clothing and beauty trends. Maybe the best part of pieces like this is knowing that maybe you really can save that corduroy button-up mini skirt for the next decade! But seriously, that look is not going to last forever, fashion fans.

Portia de Rossi resembles a present day Gigi Hadid with her sleek and slicked pony. What a model look!

Kate Hudson wears an amazing golden choker. I'm sure you were guilty of wearing one of these; I got a red jeweled choker that I thought was the best thing in the world.

Lindsay Lohan was amazing in this '70s inspired Dream Girls look at the AMAs.

Rihanna's insanely large hoops at the World Music Awards are making a comeback. But, maybe just not that big.

Beyonce's stacked bangles will probably never go out of style.

Emmy Rossum at the Critics Choice Awards rocks the sultry slip dress. This will be a runway trend we'll see for a while!

Kanye West's hair at the Grammy's was actual art. This year, women all over the world played with their hair with different trends like "galaxy hair" or "glitter brows."

19. Menswear

Gwen Stefani and Pharrell at the AMAs both donned menswear, but Stefani looked better. The blazer is a key staple of any modern woman's wardrobe.

20. The Bump-it

Paris Hilton and Katy Perry both share a bumpin' secret called the Bump-it. It's been a while, old friend.

21. Kate Moss In Hunter Boots

Kate Moss is stylish wherever and whenever. Also, Hunter Boots are pretty much the only rain boots anyone wears ever these days, myself included!
