Prep Yourself For The 'Glass Sword' Book Trailer!

If Paula Hawkins' The Girl on the Train was last year's breakout hit in adult fiction, then Victoria Aveyard took the crown for young adult lit with her debut novel, Red Queen. Now the Red Queen sequel, Glass Sword , has a book trailer out, and it's got fans counting down to a February 9 release date. I must ask you not to scream — JK, knock yourself out.

The Red Queen series centers on Mare, whose red blood marks her as a commoner. Silvers make up the ruling class, and they maintain their position by using their superhuman abilities to control the powerless Reds. When Mare turns out to have the power to control lightning, the Silvers whisk her away to their palace, call her a long-lost member of the nobility, and betroth her to a prince, but it's all a ruse to keep her from upsetting the Silver > Red power dynamic.

Upon its publication in February 2015, Red Queen pretty much had an instant fandom. The bookish corners of Instagram and Tumblr are filled with Scarlet Guardians, who do what fandoms do: share fanart, discuss their favorite ships and theories, and wallow in feels. Oh, and they also secured Aveyard's 2015 Goodreads Choice Award win, NBD.

In 2015, Aveyard also published Cruel Crown: a Red Queen prequel comprised of two short stories, "Queen Song" and "Steel Scars." Glass Sword is the second installment in the main series, however, and Aveyard plans to follow it up with two additional novels in 2017 and 2018. The author's two-book deal with HarperTeen includes the as-yet-untitled Red Queen No. 4 and an all-new novel.

Glass Sword is now available for preorder from your favorite retailer. You can purchase it on February 9th at a bookstore near you.
