Rihanna's New Album May Finally Be Finished

by Alex Kritselis

Prepare yourselves, Rihanna fans: New music could be here sooner than you think. After two weeks of silence, Rihanna tweeted about her new album, ANTI , on Monday — and there's reason to believe it's finally finished. Are all of our dreams coming true? Is the ANTI release date nearing? Let's talk about it. So, early Monday morning, the 27-year-old superstar shared a selfie on Twitter with the caption, "listening to ANTI." Her tweet also contained a red balloon emoji (which may seem like an insignificant detail, but trust me, its v. important). Because she's ridiculous and perfect, Rih is wearing a giant jewel-encrusted crown and a pair of matching jewel-encrusted headphones in the pic. She is looking radiant and breathtaking, as usual.

So, if Rihanna was listening to ANTI this morning, it must be done, right? Not necessarily. It's possible she was just listening to a bunch of demos or something (which would be incredibly disappointing... but I wouldn't put it past her). Fortunately, however, there's more evidence to suggest that the LP is complete: Rihanna's long-time vocal producer, Kuk Harrell, posted a photo on Instagram Sunday night with the caption, "Mission accomplished!" Gasp.

Of course, there's always a chance Harrell was celebrating something unrelated to ANTI, but according to Digital Spy, Rih commented on the snapshot with eight red ballon emojis (see? told ya). Red balloon emojis again! Eight of 'em! Coincidence? I think not. (ICYMI: Before fans knew ANTI was ANTI, they were calling it "R8" because it's the singer's eighth studio album.) Check out the two social media posts in question below.

Shortly after announcing the ANTI World Tour and launching ANTIdiaRy.com in November 2015, Rihanna pretty much went silent. It was frustrating! Many people (myself included) were beginning to worry that ANTI might never arrive. But now, thanks to this latest development, my faith in the long-awaited project has been restored... for the moment, anyway. Don't let me down, Rih.

Rihanna's first tour show is in San Diego on Feb. 26, so hopefully she'll have the album — or at least the next single — out by then. Rumors of a new song called "Work" with Drake surfaced online a couple of weeks ago... perhaps she'll premiere it at the 2016 Grammys ceremony on Feb. 15?

I'll keep my fingers crossed.
