'90s Themed Pancakes Are A Delicious Time Machine

by Lara Rutherford-Morrison

Those of us who grew up in the 90s will never — NEVER, I tell you — stop loving the 90s, but here’s something that will let us take our 90s devotion a step beyond #ThrowBackThursdays and listening to the Backstreet Boys on endless repeat (er, not that there’s anything wrong with that): Guys, we can now EAT our nostalgia. This video from Unilad features pancake pro Dr. Dan from Dancakes making 90s cartoon-themed pancakes. What could be tastier than the 90s with a side of maple syrup?

Dr. Dan has made pancakes to celebrate everything from Back to the Future to Watchmen , but in this video he channels 90s kids everywhere to recreate some of the most beloved characters of 90s cartoons, including Arnold (of Hey Arnold!), Courage (the Cowardly Dog), CatDog, Ed, Edd, Eddy, and (my fave) Johnny Bravo. His renditions are colorful, spot-on, and (presumably) delicious, and I can’t wait to see the rest of the decade made into breakfast. Dear Dr. Dan, here are some of the other things that defined my life in the 90s that I would love to see rendered in pancake: Quailman, Alanis Morissette, Oregon Trail, Dunkaroos, flannel, and teen angst. And would it be possible to make a pancake that smells like Bath and Body Works’ Body Splash?

In the video, Dr. Dan starts each pancake masterpiece with a black outline.

He fills in the color…

And voila! Hey, there, Arnold!
