11 Retro Fashion Trends To Bring Back ASAP

by Augusta Statz

Fashion trends come and go all of the time, and there’s definitely been a major resurgence of the 1970s and 1990s as of late. However, there are plenty of retro trends that have yet to blow up on the fashion scene. These styles definitely deserve to be relived, if you ask me. Check out 11 retro fashion trends that need to be brought back ASAP, because these looks were too good while they lasted to not get a revival. Good things don’t always have to come to an end, do they? I say, “no way!”

From bodysuits to Go-Go boots, there are plenty of "It" items from decades past that would look amazing today. I'm just saying, if I saw somebody walking down the street in a ruffle top and platform shoes, I'd look twice, but only because they looked that good. If slip dresses and brown lips can all of a sudden become modern again, then I don't see any reason why these throwback styles can't become popular, too.

I'm not asking for anything ridiculous, either. I'm just thinking, if athleisure's in, then windbreakers should make a resurgence, too. The '80s had some major athleticwear as daywear vibes going on. If history repeated itself and brought those back, I'd be all right with that, and I think you should be, too. Check out 11 trends that should make a comeback because some things just get better with time.

1. Pussy Bow Tops

Just look at how Sophia rocks this type of top. They're extremely ladylike, and would look amazing under a pantsuit nowadays, if you ask me.

2. Poodle Skirts

This '50s staple is too classic not to be worn all of the time.

3. Go-Go Boots

You can't go wrong with patent leather thigh-high boots, you know?

4. Neckerchiefs

There's something very classy about having a scarf tied around your neck, which is what makes this trend so timeless.

5. Windbreakers

I mean, come on. This has athleisure written all over it.

6. Scarves As Headbands

This hair trend was popular during the '60s and '70s, and it's still perfect today, especially for spring and summer months.

7. Ruffles

A blouse like this channels the '80s, which were all about volume. I wouldn't mind seeing more ruffles today, would you?

8. Platform Sneakers

Platforms have been popular for a while, but the sneaker version became trendy in the '90s. They've made a bit of a comeback since then, but I wouldn't mind seeing even more of these around.

9. Bodysuits

Bella Hadid just rocked a bodysuit as an outfit, which is such an '80s thing to do. I'd love to see this become super trendy.

10. Round Sunglasses

The oh-so '70s style of wearing oversized round sunnies is perfect for those springtime festival vibes, even in 2016.

11. '60s-Style Hats

Wide-brimmed hats, fedoras and most recently baseball caps have become popular, but I'd like to get back to the way of wearing hats as pure accessory rather than for any sort of coverage from the sun.

Let's make these trends happen people, because I don't think these style items deserve to be considered old-fashioned any longer! Somebody notify me once these are officially back in. Until then, I'll just be here... waiting.
