Lipstick Mistakes You Didn't Know You Were Making

Lipstick will forever and always be my favorite beauty product. But while it seems fairly straightforward to use, there are actually plenty of subtle lipstick mistakes you could be making. No, none of these are the end of the world, but the tiny tweaks you make to prevent them will open up a world of perfect, long-lasting lip color possibilities. And I know that's a world you want to live in.

For example, everyone constantly asks how I get my lipstick to last all day long. Am I wearing an expensive brand? Do I have some kind of magic lips that suck in and hold on to red pigment for a full 24 hours? Did I actually tattoo that crimson shade onto my body? Nope — I just don't leave home without my LOD (lipstick of the day). From my decades of lipstick experience, I can solemnly swear that there is nothing on the market (yet) that actually, truly looks as good after lunch as it did when I walked out the door. So Lipstick Mistake #1? Applying once and forgetting about it. Even the most perfect shade (NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita in this particular occasion) of plum won't do you much good if it's sitting on your dresser.
