J.K. Rowling Honors Emma Watson On Twitter

by Courtney Lindley

In case you don't know, J.K. Rowling pretty much owns Twitter. The prolific author uses the social media platform to bond with Chamillionaire (yes, the hip-hop artist), cheekily respond to her fans, and call out people who are wrong. (Which happens to be the majority of people on the Internet.) But Tuesday, my friends, J.K. Rowling took a break from all of that, to share a sweet and heartfelt Twitter moment with Emma Watson, because Rowling and Watson's relationship is literally the sweetest. After learning that #HeForShe was granted a special emoji on Twitter, Watson shared the news to her fans. Then, of course, because magic does exist, J.K. Rowling responded "Nice emoji! You're an inspirational woman." Then, true story, everyone started crying. (OK, I made that last part up.)

The exchange sent chills down my spine as I'm sure it would to any Potter fan or supporter of these two incredible humans. It did get me thinking, however, that this isn't the first — and hopefully it won't be the last — time that Watson and Rowling showed each other support. And it's not the first — and probably won't be the last — time their relationship has made us feel emotions of the happy variety. Here is the aforementioned convo (pro tip: I suggest you have tissues ready, and your hand already over your heart):

Are you OK? Yeah, no. Same. Now, onto what I was saying before. The Watson and Rowling relationship has been inspirational for a while now. Let's take a look back on some of the pair's finest moments.

When Watson Interviewed Rowling

In an interview for Wonderland magazine, Watson discussed all things Potter with Rowling. The revelations that came about were painful for some (apparently Rowling wished Harry and Hermione had ended up together), but the rapport these two have was enough to make us forget the whole thing. Kind of. Favorite part though? When Rowling says "I love Hermione," and Watson replies, "I love her too." Ouch. My heart.

When Watson Defended Rowling's Comments About Hermione and Ron

At the 2014 Oscars red carpet, you best believe Watson defended Rowling's comments after backlash surrounded the aforementioned interview. She told MTV's Josh Horowitz, “It was a real shame, because the quote that she gave was completely taken out of context.”

When Rowling Confirmed Hermione's Approval Of #HeForShe

I feel second-hand pride just thinking about Hermione being proud. Is that weird? I don't know/care.

When Rowling Expressed Her Love For Watson

In an interview with Daniel Radcliffe, Rowling confessed that Emma was too pretty to play the role of Hermione — or so she initially thought. She said "Emma's a great actress and I loved her as a person. And I felt that there were so many connections between her and Hermione that, did it matter that she was beautiful? Come on."

I'm sorry. I have to go. It's all too much for me right now.
