Like many, I proudly claim my identity as a geek and, more specifically, as a Star Wars fan. My love of the fantasy epic says a lot about my personality: I’m a sucker for a mythic conflict between good and evil; I always root for the underdog; and I generally think space is pretty cool. And it’s been an amazing year to be a Star Wars fanatic, with the release of The Force Awakens and the subsequent awakening of the fandom. Star Wars is back in the zeitgeist and there’s no better time to proclaim allegiance to it.
One of the reasons audiences returned to the theaters a second, third, or eleventh time to see The Force Awakens is that the first film in this new trilogy introduced new characters who are already legendary. Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren join the ranks of towering Star Wars personalities like Han, Luke, and Leia, and hopefully the cool-kid expansion of this universe will continue in Episodes VIII and IX. I have a theory that your favorite Star Wars character says a lot about you as a person. (I know, you “love them all.” But every mother has a secret favorite child.) Read on to see if the Star Wars hero or villain you love the most matches up with your no-doubt amazing personality.
1. Luke Skywalker
You're idealistic, sometimes to a fault. Like Luke, you're bored with mundane tasks and have always thought you were destined for bigger things. Some might have thought you whiny in your youth, but you've matured through life experience. You'd drop everything to help your friends.
2. Han Solo
Your sarcasm is legendary. Han Solo is the definitive soft-hearted rogue; you also talk a tough game but have an ooey-gooey caramel center. And I bet you can talk your way out of anything.
3. Princess/General Leia
Like Leia Organa-Solo, you're a born leader. You never take the easy way out or lean into your privilege. You love to be the boss, but you also surround yourself with (and exclusively date) people who challenge you.
4. Darth Vader
Sorry to break it to you, but you're more than a little consumed with status and power. Try taking a deep breath and counting to ten before making any decisions that might result in the decimation of a planet. On the bright side: you can eventually admit when you've been wrong.
5. Chewbacca
Congratulations to anyone who counts you as a friend, because you are the most loyal. Like Chewie, you're reliable and relatively ego-free. But you're not afraid to throw your weight around to get a little respect.
6. R2-D2
R2-D2 is your favorite Star Wars character? Then you must be a sassmaster. You always say what you're thinking, even in times of stress. And you're a pro at keeping secrets.
7. C-3PO
Over-dramatic much? You're probably the most book-smart of your crew, but you're also prone to gentle hysteria. You like hanging out with your couple friends and are oblivious to being the third wheel.
8. Rey
What's up, firecracker? You're a hard worker and never one to complain, even in the worst circumstances. You refuse to be damsel-ed, but also put undue importance on the past. Let go. It won't hurt you.
9. Finn
When danger strikes, you're the first person heading the other way. You're not a coward, just not a fan of risking life and limb for no reason. But like Finn, you abandon all hesitancy to help anyone you care about. You're naive but learning, and you like to borrow (steal) your significant other's clothes.
10. Poe Dameron
You are obscenely heroic. You found your calling as a child and every decision you've made is in pursuit of that dream. People flock to you, inspired by how friggin' good you are at everything. To their annoyance, you're also ridiculously nice and humble.
11. Kylo Ren
You're petulant and you blame your parents for all your problems. It's highly possible that you also have great hair, so you've got that going for you.
12. BB-8
BB-8 fans are as adaptable and good-natured as Poe Dameron's little droid buddy. You adjust to even the craziest situations with a joke and a smile, and you make friends everywhere you go.
13. Obi-Wan Kenobi
You love to learn and to teach. When you love someone, you're blinded to their faults. Regrets, you have a few.
14. Padmé Amidala
You're probably a magnet for complicated men. On the bright side, you're wise beyond your years and an excellent mediator.
Whoever your favorite Star Wars character might be and how that relates back to you, you're already an awesome person for being a fan in the first place.
