Porn Star Amber Rayne Found Dead At 31

The porn community is devastated today after learning that performer Amber Rayne died in her sleep at the age of 31 in her Los Angeles home. No official cause has been released as of yet, according to BuzzFeed, but the coroner's office commented it may be “an accident or possible overdose.” The star of over 500 adult films, as well as a producer, editor, and director, Rayne joined the industry in 2005 and announced her retirement in 2015 — despite returning briefly to star in Stormy Daniels' Wild-West-themed porn Wanted. Nominated for multiple AVN Awards, and winner of two in 2009, Rayne was also an avid horseback rider and sports fan, frequently posting about her own horse on social media.

Rayne spent time in the spotlight last year after coming forward to discuss her rape accusation against James Deen. Despite being friends with Deen, Rayne shared her allegations with the The Daily Beast, describing a scene she shot during which the man (whom Stoya, among others, have also accused of rape) allegedly brutalized her.

However, in death, Rayne shouldn't be remembered merely for her connection to an alleged rapist, but as a talented woman who was loved by many. Friends and fans of Rayne took to Twitter to celebrate her life and lament her untimely passing:
