And The 'American Idol' Final Two Are...

by Jessica Molinari

Get ready, American Idol, fans, the finale is here and the end is so, so near. So near, in fact, that we're down to the Final Two. La'Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon will be battling it out for the final American Idol title, and the pairing couldn't be any more perfect. Renae and Harmon have been favorites since the Hollywood Rounds, so it's only appropriate for them to be the last two standing. While they do have a lot in common, there are plenty of qualities that set them apart — and that will make it extremely difficult for America to choose a winner.

Let's start with the similarities. 1. Both contestants are from Mississippi. 2. They both auditioned in Little Rock. That has to be some kind of Idol first, right? There must be something in the water. Another similarity? They're both crazy talented and are the last two standing in the final season of American Idol. If that doesn't make them legendary, then I don't know what will.

Now let's talk about their differences. Renae is this season's powerhouse. She continues to blow the judges away with her out-of-this-world performances. The 22-year-old performer calls to mind former Idol winners, like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. A Renae win would be the perfect bookend to Clarkson's and a fabulous way to close the Idol franchise. But first, she'll have to beat Harmon, who is more than a worthy opponent.

I've had a huge crush on Harmon since the Hollywood Rounds — not just for his boyish good looks and country charm, but for his talent and determination. I mean, come on, the guy competed solo in the group rounds because of his mono and he STILL managed to make it through. That's because his talent speaks for itself. He's original, versatile and has a great tone to his voice. He'll sound amazing on the radio and be great in concert, but that's only if America gives him that chance.

As the coaches said, this is the first "battle" to the title in a long time. There is no clear winner. It all comes down to their performances tonight. America will have the final say, so be sure to vote for your favorite! In just 24 hours, we'll have our 15th and final American Idol — who's it going to be?
