Kanye West Comments On Rob And Chyna's Engagement

by Michelle McGahan

While the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan has kept uncharacteristically mum in the wake of Rob Kardashian's engagement to Blac Chyna, Kanye West is speaking out on the #ChyRo engagement, becoming the first ~official~ member of the Kardashian-Jenner fam to make any kind of statement about the couple's major life event.

Caught by paparazzi at LAX (where he had just returned from a ski vacation in Colorado with the Kardashians and will now be jet-setting to the Philippines — tough life), West was all smiles when discussing his brother-in-law, whom he repeatedly refers to as his "brother."

When a videographer asked if he would be attending the upcoming nuptials, West was casual (and super smiley) in his reply, telling the pap: "You know what? I haven't been invited." But it was anything but shade — more like, "the engagement just happened, so obviously I don't have the actual wedding deets yet." It's a clever, calculated response to not give away any more than he is willing to say.

"You know, Rob is my brother, I love Rob," the rapper continued, clapping his hands. "That's all I can say ... I love Rob."

And though West didn't exactly make any earth-shattering statements about the whole Blac Chyna/Rob Kardashian relationship, it's notable that what he did say was super positive. Sure, "I love Rob" isn't the same as "I love Rob and Blac Chyna together, woohoo, gonna go sport some ChyRo pennants and foam fingers," but it's a clear sign of support. And it's certainly more than the rest of the family has said.

In fact, Kardashian-Jenner family matriarch Kris Jenner was caught by paps on Thursday, April 7, including one who repeatedly asked about her thoughts on Rob's engagement. Though the x17 Online vid claims that she looked "visibly upset" when the question was posed, Jenner looked completely normal — and pretty happy, as a matter of fact — just blatantly choosing to ignore the videographer and refuse to answer the question.

It's the kind of blatant silence that the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family has adopted since Rob and Chyna revealed their engagement. Despite all members of the fam posting frequently to social media during their Colorado vacay, no one has come forward to congratulate Rob or frankly make any kind of statement about the situation. It's an icy silence that is certainly telling: There is speculation that the family believes the engagement is too soon, or that the lack of response is due to the rumored tension between Rob and the rest of his family.

Still: Kanye West's supportive reaction is something, and, when tacked on to the responses from other important players involved (like Tyga, Amber Rose, and Rob's ex-girlfriend Adrienne Bailon), it all adds up to happiness for Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna. Now, if only the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew would weigh in...
