JoJo Should Follow These 'Bachelorette' Tips

by Molly Freeman

Remember way back at the beginning of Ben Higgins' season of The Bachelor when former Bachelors Sean Lowe, Jason Mesnick, and Chris Soules sat down with the newest man attempting to find love on the ABC reality dating franchise and offered some advice based on what they learned during their own seasons? Well, it remains to be seen if Kaitlyn Bristowe has a similar sit down with new Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher, but if not, here are 11 things JoJo should learn from Kaitlyn's season of The Bachelorette .

Of course, Kaitlyn had a rather infamous season. Between the first episode when she and Britt Nilsson had to compete with each other for the title of The Bachelorette, the surprise arrival of former Bachelorette contestant Nick Viall, and the drama surrounding what exactly Kaitlyn told Shawn Booth off camera, Season 11 of The Bachelorette was a roller coaster ride — though not always a pleasant one. But, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and in the case of The Bachelorette, what one woman went through can provide plenty of advice for the next lady attempting to find love on reality TV. So, here are some things I think JoJo could learn from Kaitlyn's season of The Bachelorette.

The First Night Can Be The Hardest

At this point, it's a fairly well-known fact that filming the first night can last until morning, but Kaitlyn had the added stress of competing with Britt for the title of The Bachelorette on her first night as well. So, the first night can be tough for a variety of reasons, but JoJo can follow Kaitlyn's lead and use some humor to get through it.

Less Cliché Dates

Sure, that funeral date in Kaitlyn's season was a little weird — and triggering for Ben Z. — but it was refreshing to see something other than a helicopter and a hot tub! Plus, JoJo has a lot to live up to after Ben Higgins' swimming with pigs date.

Don't Be Afraid to Make Mistakes

One thing that can be said about Kaitlyn is that she threw herself into the process of The Bachelorette and followed her own path no matter where it led. Even if she messed up, it was all to serve a greater goal: finding love.

Follow Her Heart…

That's what it's all about! Kaitlyn followed her heart straight to Shawn and it ended up working out great.

…And Other Body Parts

I don't want to make assumptions about what body part Kaitlyn was following when she and Nick ended their one-on-one date in a hotel suite, but it was part of her process and it was what she wanted to do. If JoJo also feels so inclined, she has every right to end one of her own dates in a hotel suite.

Don't Be Afraid to Make Up Her Own Rules

Just like the episode editors of Season 11 made up their own rules about when the rose ceremonies would come in an episode, JoJo should follow Kaitlyn's example and kiss however many people she feels necessary.

Be Open With Her Feelings

Arguably, Kaitlyn was a little too open with her feelings, telling Shawn pretty early in the season that her feelings for him were stronger than her feelings for the other contestants. But, if that's how JoJo feels about one of her own guys, then she could and should be open about it.

Follow Her Own Schedule

Although both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are about finding love, they tend to follow a fairly regimented schedule of dates and rose ceremonies. However, both Kaitlyn and Ben (as well as other Bachelors and Bachelorettes) have shown in the past that sometimes relationships can't be contained by this schedule. So, JoJo shouldn't be afraid to send someone home when the timing feels right to her.

Trust Her Own Judgement

A lot of people, both on and off the show, had something to say about Kaitlyn's choice to bring Nick onto her season. But, at the end of the day, it was her journey and if that included Nick, then that included Nick. Even though they didn't end up together, it seemed to be what Kaitlyn needed in order to find love with Shawn.

Have Fun

Sure, it's a corny lesson, but important all the same. Kaitlyn was a master of having fun on her season and JoJo should definitely have her own fun while on her season of The Bachelorette.

Be Herself

Of course, the trick to finding someone to spend your life with — and this seems to be true both in The Bachelor franchise and real life — is to be yourself. Kaitlyn excelled at this, and JoJo should absolutely follow her predecessor's lead.

So, if JoJo follows these tips, I think she'll be able to find something just as great as what Kaitlyn has with Shawn — they are #RelationshipGoals after all.
