In the final moments of the Season 1 finale of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a bombshell was revealed about Kimmy's roommate and friend Titus Andromedon: He is married ... and to a woman. With Season 2 premiering on Netflix on Friday, April 15, I'm definitely wondering who is Titus' wife on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? As Titus actor Tituss Burgess told HuffPost Live back in August, "Season 2, we find out more about Titus' wedding, and his wife. And why he left, how he left, which is really funny." Hopefully that means Kimmy will pick up right where it left off so that fans can learn all about Titus' wife Vonda, portrayed by Pernell Walker.
In case you need a refresher, as the episode "Kimmy Makes Waffles" wrapped up, a previously unseen character appeared on the screen and said, "Ronald effing Wilkerson! I saw your little video on the YouTube. I thought you was dead." Titus revealed to Kimmy that this woman was Vonda and not only did he know her, but he was married to her. This brief exchange revealed so many hilarious tidbits: First, as I mentioned, the gay Titus is married to a woman. Second, she thought he was dead? So that probably means they are still legally married. And third (and most importantly), Titus' real name is officially the most boring man's name in the world.
Vonda and her reveal were the perfect cliffhanger to end Kimmy's Schmidt's zany first season and although actress Walker didn't get much screen time in Season 1, based on Burgess' promise of a "really funny" backstory, I'm expecting great things from the character and actress.
While Vonda met up with Titus and Kimmy in Durnsville, Indiana, she may want to travel to New York City with the pair since according to her website, Walker is from the Bronx. Along with Kimmy Schmidt, the actress has had small roles in the TV shows Blue Bloods, The Leftovers, The Knick, Boardwalk Empire, and Vinyl. Besides TV, Walker has worked in films and theater. Her first feature film was as Laura in the film Pariah , which has the prestige of having been an official selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. As for non-indie films, she was in Lee Daniels' The Butler and had a bit part in Annie with Jamie Foxx.
Walker confirmed on her About section of her website that she will be in the first episode of Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and that she'll be in another exciting series — albeit quite a different one — soon. While it's not listed on her IMDb page yet, her website says she'll be in HBO's upcoming series The Deuce , a drama about the porn industry in New York City in the '70s and '80s created by The Wire's David Simon and starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Like I said, just a wee bit different from the happy-go-lucky vibe of Kimmy Schmidt's New York City.
With Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt finally here, we'll get to discover why Titus was married to Vonda — and how he faked his death — but we'll also get to see Walker inevitably having a blast as Kimmy Schmidt's most memorable character's wife. Hey, maybe Titus and Vonda can meet up with Sonja and Dong in divorce court?
