Kylie Jenner Swears By This Lip Scrub

by Zoe Weiner

Another day, another Kardashian-inspired beauty routine that I never knew existed and now feel like I can't live without. Thanks to a sneak peak inside her travel bag, courtesy of her app, we got a first-hand look at Kylie Jenner's favorite lip scrub: Mizzi Cosmetics Lip Scrub and Honey Kiss Lip Balm. Turns out the secret to her perfect pout isn't just her Lip Kits — it's this brand's exfoliating and hydrating products!

The youngest Jenner, whose lips are a serious source of envy and serve as the inspiration for the hottest, hardest to find beauty product in the universe right now, explained that the product is a constant staple in her suitcase, and that she takes it everywhere with her. “I love to carry a lip scrub with me," she said on her app. "I always love to go the natural route…so this one is a nice one…it has pure honey, cane sugar, lemon and grapefruit oils, coconut oil, vitamin E, everything I love.”

All of Mizzi's products, including the Lip Scrub and Honey Kiss Lip Balm, are completely natural and have a vegan base. The line was originally created by Brenda Mierzejewski, who was looking for an all-natural solution for her sons' chapped lips during cold Connecticut winters. She also wanted something that would work for her, too.

The balms not only help with chapped lips — they can also be worn as standalone gloss or as a shine sealant for lipstick. They're made with therapeutic essential oils, which heal and protect lips while giving off a high-shine and long-lasting finish.

The balms come in six different flavors, from "Lemon and Lavender" to "Plumping Peppermint" and are meant to be used in combination with the lip scrub.

If you're wondering what exactly a lip scrub is and why you need one, hear me out. We all know we're supposed to exfoliate and moisturize our hands/feet/faces/bodies — especially during the summer, when they're constantly exposed to the sun, salt, and sand — but apparently, as Jenner has so kindly educated us on, we're supposed to be doing it with our lips too.

It's important to exfoliate your lips to remove old skin cells and allow new collagen to grow. Plus, exfoliating increases circulation to your lips and can make them look plumper and fuller. Dead skin on your lips can also give them a pale, grayish color, so exfoliating helps improve your natural tint, too. If you don't believe me, just look at Jenner's perfectly smooth and healthy lips.

Mizzi's scrub and balm requires a two step process: First, exfoliate your lips with the scrub to get rid of all of the chapped, dead skin. Then, seal it with the balm. According to one Bustle author who swears by this routine, the scrub has an almond flavor and the balm tastes more citrusy.

These natural products are so great and easy to use, you may not even need to bother with a Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit! But, if you do end up with one (I, personally, can never seem to enter my credit card information quickly enough) make sure you exfoliate before using!
