The Most Insane Things Real Housewives Have Said

by Daniela Cabrera

The Real Housewives franchise is something I can confidently say is my most guilty pleasure on television. Really, nothing else compares to the ridiculous drama and shouting matches and love triangles and just everything else that happens in their lives. Perhaps it's an escape from my relatively chill real life, but it's fascinating to see how people can live like a real soap opera every day. How do they do it? In thinking about those crazy moments on the franchise, let's talk a bit about the most insane things that Real Housewives cast members have said throughout the years, words that have stuck with viewers and their fellow Housewives for a long time.

Housewives never fails to make my jaw drop and audibly yell "OH MY GOD" at the screen while noshing on my favorite snacks. It seems like a pre-requisite to be cast on any Real Housewives show is to be a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind and keep it as real as possible. Isn't that the whole point of the show anyway? Well, along with real comes a lot of wild and crazy, so here are some of the most insane things Real Housewives have said on their various shows.

1. When Phaedra Had A Thing For The Dead

Phaedra Parks joined the cast of Real Housewives of Atlanta back in Season 3, and has been a treasure trove of hilariously weird quotes. Aside from being a highly successful entertainment lawyer in her past, Phaedra spoke about her fascination with death and eventually studied to be a mortician. On Season 4, Episode 2 she had this to say:

"I like everything about the dead... 'cause they're so quiet. I mean, think about it, how quiet it would be to be in a room with no one that is alive."

2. When Teresa Became Iconic

Even if you've never watched an episode of any of the Housewives series, you probably recognize the now iconic scene of Teresa Guidice flipping over a table during her fight with Danielle Staub. Even more memorable than her table flipping? When she couldn't hold back and called Staub a "prostitution whore." Ouuuuch.

3. When Alex Put Jill In Her Place

Alex McCord of Real Housewives of New York City had no more patience for Jill Zarin's rumors about her family life and her home in Brooklyn. They ended up at the same party and Alex was ready to finally stand up to Jill. What did she say?

"You are a mean girl and you are in high school, and while you are in high school, I am in Brooklyn, trying to survive in this economy."

I don't know why I find it so funny that she had to say she's in Brooklyn, but I guess that marked a real difference from Jill's Manhattan life.

4. When Kelly Made Absolutely No Sense

This episode is one that will stick with many fans forever. On Real Housewives of New York City, the ladies all went to the Virgin Islands to celebrate Ramona Singer's 17th wedding anniversary. Kelly Bensimon and Bethenny Frankel were already not keen on each other, but Kelly started acting increasingly bizarre in this episode. She accused Bethenny of not being a real chef, and told her:

"You live in a horror movie, I live in Disneyland... Satchels of gold."

Huh?

5. When Aviva Made Her Point Very Clear

When Aviva Drescher of RHONY was being accused of lying and being fake at dinner, she shocked all the ladies when she threw her prosthetic leg on the table and proclaimed,

"The only thing fake or artificial about me... is this!"

6. When Porsha Took It Too Far

This Real Housewives of Atlanta fight during one of their reunion specials is one to go down in the books. Atlanta cast members Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams went head to head, but before things got physical, the fight kicked off when Porsha told Kenya,

"You're a slut from the 90s!"

7. When Lisa Gave Us Too Much Information

Ugh, Lisa Vanderpump is a queen. She's always a bit sarcastic and knows not to take all of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills craziness too seriously. During Season 1, Vanderpump likened wine tasting to a certain something and well, she didn't hold back:

"The thing is with wine tasting, is you don’t swallow — you spit. It kinda goes against everything I’ve ever been taught, really."

8. When Joanna Opened Up About Her Eating Habits

The ladies from Real Housewives of Miami made it to Bimini for a vacation together and of course there was drama. But Joanna Krupa took a moment to comment on the island cuisine and gave us all a little more information than we anticipated when she bluntly said in her on-camera session,

"I've never eaten conch, but I have eaten c*ck."

9. When Dina Got Creepy With It

Danielle caused a whole lot of trouble on RHONJ, and she set her eyes on Dina Manzo, who was creeped out by Danielle's lingering stares. Manzo said in her confessional,

"The girl is freakin’ obsessed with me. I don’t know if she wants to be me, or skin me and wear me like last year’s Versace."

10. When Kenya Was Really Feeling Herself

Real Housewives has given us some iconic lines, but only one has been used by Queen Bey herself. After the 2013 Super Bowl reunion of Destiny's Child, Beyoncé was interviewed and said their performance was "Gone With The Wind fabulous!" Kenya Moore infamously said this to her cast mates during a fight:

"I have been in the business 20 years and I'm still here... and I'm still fabulous. I'm Gone With The Wind fabulous."

Then she twirled out of the shot. No one really knew what it meant, but it was such a hilarious moment and reference that will live on forever.

11. When Faye Was Way Harsh

The "morally corrupt" Faye Resnick always stirs things up when she makes appearances on Beverly Hills, but she did get some points from viewers who didn't like Brandi Glanville. Faye held nothing back when she told Brandi,

"No matter how many Chanels you borrow, you'll never be a lady."

That was way harsh, Faye.

This is obviously only a fraction of some of the kookiest, weirdest, and down-right mean things Real Housewives have said on the show, and there will only be more to come.
