Only True Fans Know These 'Labyrinth' Quotes

There are some childhood movies that will forever hold a special place in your heart and the '80s cult film Labyrinth , which premiered in theaters 30 years ago now, is definitely one of them. From David Bowie's unforgettable portrayal as Jareth, the Goblin King (whom I may or may not have had a major crush on) to the amazing array of fantastical creatures Sarah met throughout her quest to rescue her baby brother, this movie captivated us in a very unique way, and still does so even today. I don't care about many times I've seen Jareth and the goblins rock out to Magic Dance, it never gets old. In fact, sometimes I even find myself busting out a couple of iconic Labyrinth quotes every now and then, just to see if anyone knows what I'm referring to. That's how you know you've met another Labyrinth super-fan.

Not sure whether or not your love for the film has reached such esteemed super-fan heights? There's one surefire way to find out, which is why I've taken the liberty of rounding up some of the greatest Labyrinth quotes of all time that only diehard fans will instantly recognize. So go ahead and see how deep your loyalty to this Bowie classic is or forever be suspended headfirst into the Bog of Eternal Stench.

1. "You remind me of the babe..."

If the next words out of your mouth aren't "What babe? Babe with the power!" then it may be time for a re-watch. Also, singing along with the characters is not only acceptable, but highly encouraged.

2. "That's not fair!"

This one you have to say in the right tone in order to convey where you're actually quoting from. Otherwise people will think you're just complaining about taxes or Donald Trump or something. But if you say it in that whiny, teenage way Sarah always did, you may catch a select few fans who recognize the imitation.

3. "I move the stars for no one..."

Though, secretly you wished Jareth would offer to move the stars for you. Warning: vast amounts of swooning may occur upon hearing this line.

4. "You have no power over me..."

Little did Sarah know how powerful these words were at the beginning of the story and that it would end up being the way to bring the Goblin King down for good. Bonus points if you can say the entire thing by memory (yes, even the part Sarah always forgot): "Through dangers untold, and warships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great... YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME.

5. "It's further than you think. Time is short."

She may have been full of confidence at the beginning, but as we all later come to learn about the Labyrinth, nothing is ever as it appears.

6. "She chose down..."

Those creepy Helping Hands still haunt my dreams to this very day.

7. "SMELL BAD!!!"

Who could forget the Bog of Eternal Stench? I mean, it was a place full of farting noises for crying out loud. So channel your best Ludo impression and see what kind of reaction you get.

8. "It's so stimulating being your hat."

The banter between the wise old man and his talking hat is downright hilarious and anyone who isn't familiar with it is seriously missing out.

9. "Your eyes can be so cruel..."

Is it possible for someone to be creepy and attractive all at the same time?

10. "It's only forever, not long at all..."

This classic quote from Underground plays at both the beginning and end of the film, so it's hard to get out of your head afterwards. Not that you'd ever want to, of course.

11. "When your thing gets wild, chilly down, chilly down!"

Aside from the whole "take off your head" portion of the dance sequence, you have to admit it's pretty catchy.

12. "Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave."

A tempting and terrifying offer if there ever was one.

13. "Should you need us..."

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll fall in love with these characters all over again.
