Amber Rose Supports Taylor Swift & Tom Hiddleston Rumors & It's Awesome To See Her Stick Up For The Artist
After years of people scrutinizing the way she dates, Taylor Swift's getting some support from an unlikely source. Amber Rose — author of How To Be A Bad Bitch and overall badass/purveyor of female equality — has defended the artist's choice to (possibly) date Tom Hiddleston soon after her breakup with DJ Calvin Harris. The Daily Beast's Marlow Stern sat down with Rose for an upcoming profile and ended up picking her brain about the recent photographs of Swift and Hiddleston. You know the ones. If you haven't seen them, I'm worried for you — where have you been? They show the pair looking pretty cozy (and in one photo, kissing?) on some rocks by the ocean.
Rose told Stern, "I did see that, and I think she’s f**king awesome." On whether or not she thinks the photos were a publicity stunt or somehow fake (as some have theorized), Rose said, "I mean, I don’t know if it’s staged — but that’s how it is! I was on a private beach in Maui — you literally had to drive three hours from the airport to get to this beach — and paparazzi still caught me." And if anyone could understand what it's like to have your romantic life put on blast, it's Rose, who has famously dated both Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa.
Rose also stood up for Swift on the basis of a little something we in the business of being females like to call "unfair double standards." Many have pointed this out (though it seems to sometimes fall on deaf ears), but if Swift were a male musician, would she be getting this much scrutiny over who she chooses to date — and when she chooses to date them? I'd say probably not, and Rose agrees. "I feel like guys do that all the time — they break up and the next day they’re with another girl and nobody really says anything. But with Taylor it’s, you know what, I’m done with Calvin [Harris] and it didn’t work out, so on to the next."
Hear, hear, Rose! Please let this sentiment be heard. Swift and Harris didn't work out, so she moved on. I'll never understand how it's wrong to move on from a relationship after another relationship ends? I think they call that... living?
I'll always be on board with women sticking up for other women, especially when it comes to something inane like photos of Swift and Hiddleston on a rock-date (new thing, patent pending). Swift's just trying to live her life. What else is she supposed to do? "Sit in the house and be lonely?", as Rose points out? I'd take a rock-date over that any day.
