11 Laugh-Out-Loud Awkward First Dates

We’ve all been there — awkward first dates. Some end with a polite handshake while others end less amicably. Still others end in you-can’t-make-this-up moments, like the time I was set up on a blind date and the guy faked a cough halfway through, saying he’s sick and better get home. (I know — sad! Ironically, he was an “actor,” though I felt his cough needed some work!) Or the time my date showed up to a Halloween party as a zombie — and decided to wear red contacts so his eyes looked bloody. In case you’ve never tried to talk to someone with completely red eyeballs, it’s not easy. And then there was the time when a first date and I got stuck in the parking garage of a county jail (where his father worked — we’d gone to drop by his birthday party!) and my date had no cash for the parking attendant. Luckily, I found a bunch of pennies and nickels in the bottom of my bag to get us out of jail… literally.
