Remember These 'Old Christine' Guests Stars?

by Mary Grace Garis

It probably goes without saying that Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a comedy goddess and we are all lucky to co-exist in the same universe as her. This isn’t just because of her history as a Saturday Night Live regular or her current low-key day-job as Veep’s Selina Kyle, or the fact that she’s Elaine Goddamn Benes; we also need to give credit to Dreyfus’s solid mid-2000s series, The New Adventures of Old Christine. Perhaps this was the first successful effort at breaking the Seinfeld curse, and subsequently the comedy was able to bring in a slew of your all-time faves. Yes, there were a lot of interesting celebrities who appeared as guest stars on The New Adventures of Old Christine .

Well, fellow people of the Internet who also have access to Google, plenty of stars. As Old Christine tried to navigate her fresh single life, she was thrown into a myriad of bad dates, good boyfriends, and tangential family members (what do you call your ex-husband’s new girlfriend’s father who you’re dating, exactly...?)

Don’t believe me? Well, scroll down and see for yourself. Here are just a few actors who had the pleasure of hanging out with Queen JLD on The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Before she snagged regular spots in Ugly Betty and Devious Maids she had a one-episode friendship with Christine as Belinda, a fellow divorcee who shared Christine's hatred of Marly and Lindsay.

2. Megan Mullally

It was a big win for women in comedy when Christine and Mullally's character Margaret shared the strangest kiss of all time together after Christine tries to explain that she's only green card married to Barb.

3. Constance Zimmer

Speaking of strange tongue-tangos, who can forget Zimmer, as New Christine's sister, macked it with her uncle? Unreal.

4. Tim Meadows

Christine was an SNL-alumni-friendly show, so it's no surprise that Meadows made a double appearance as New Christine's doctor, who was, for the record, very concerned about overcrowding during her sonogram appointment.

5. Ben Feldman

Hardly a Mad Men then, Ginsberg had a small role as Timmy, a waaaaay too young blind date of Christine.

6. Jennifer Grey

Richard went out on a date with Baby Houseman (and real life wife) Grey, and in traditional sitcom fashion she turned out being a huge bundle of crazy.

7. Andy Richter

Richter made a few recurring appearances to the show as Stan, the Sad Dad that Christine found herself undeniably attracted to.

8. Amy Sedaris

Oh, the saga of Frankenstein. Christine tried her damnedest to make amends with Sedaris' character, a former junior high classmate she had teased mercilessly when they were teens. Unfortunately resurrecting to the past turned out to be a low-key disaster... but Sedaris' cameo was golden.

9. Scott Bakula

Never forget that the most recent member of the NCIS family also popped in once in awhile as Old Christine's love interest... and New Christine's father. Whoops.

10. Jane Lynch

I know it sounds crazy, but Lynch played a gym teacher at Ritchie's private school. How could you even imagine Lynch as a school faculty member?

11. Blair Underwood

Oh, please, you probably still fantasize about Underwood as Christine's beautiful boyfriend... and still cringe from secondhand embarrassment when you remember Christine's fundraiser foibles.

12. Jason Alexander

There were few things more disturbing than watching George pop his head up from under Elaine's dress... OK, even if Alexander was playing the role of Christine's gynecologist. It's just the sort of fanfiction I don't want to read, you know?

13. Molly Shannon

Dave Kotinsky/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Ah yes, Christine spent Christmas time 2009 with Shannon's Jeannie, a neighbor of Christine who reveals a shade or two of insanity as the booze flows and the holiday festivities rage on.

14. Jeffrey Tambor

Angela Weiss/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Ah yes, Emmy-award-winning Tambor was the Reptile Guy for a hot second... and of course Christine was conned into a date with him.

15. Eric McCormack

Another blast from Will & Grace (actually, one half of the moniker), McCormack made a few appearances as a Christine's end-of-the-series boyfriend (and therapist for a hot sec).

16. Clark Gregg

NEVER FORGET THAT HE WAS CHRISTINE'S EX-HUSBAND BEFORE HE BECAME AGENT COLSON, AKA KING OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE. NEVER. FORGET.

Who else is dying for a rewatch right about now?
