'The Powerpuff Girls' Season 2 Is Happening

Amazing news for fans of The Powerpuff Girls on Tuesday. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are coming back to Cartoon Network for a second season, it has been announced. I'm sure everyone will agree that this is the correct decision, especially as the rebooted series was recently nominated for the Outstanding Short Form Animated Program Emmy (and should most definitely win!). The Powerpuff Girls is the perfect show for so many reasons. Not only are the three lead characters kick-ass female superheroes who won't let anyone put them down, but they continually support each other and have magical adventures together. As if you needed any convincing as to why you should watch the show. But when will Season 2 of The Powerpuff Girls air?

Announcing the awaited renewal of The Powerpuff Girls, Cartoon Network's Rob Sorcher said, “Congratulations to the Cartoon Network creative teams who have super-powered this property with the perfect amount of Chemical X to bring a hit show for a new generation of fans.” While the reboot has undoubtedly brought the series to the next generation of fans, it's also reignited the fierce fandom of viewers who grew up watching the adventures of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup back in the '90s. So please tell me when The Powerpuff Girls is coming back, because I need this.

Unfortunately, a premiere date for Season 2 of The Powerpuff Girls hasn't been announced yet, so it could be a while before the world's favorite superheroes are back on our TV screens. Since Season 1 of the rebooted series premiered on Cartoon Network in April 2016, we might have to wait until 2017 for new episodes, which feels like an awfully long time away. In the meantime, there's one place fans can get a glimpse of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, and that's at San Diego's Comic-Con which takes place from July 21, 2016.

As Entertainment Weekly reported, Comic-Con features lots of goodies for Cartoon Network fans. From a Costume Ball, to a booth dedicated to in which fans can turn themselves into their very own Powerpuff Girl, it looks as though The Powerpuff Girls are back for good. Season 2 can't come soon enough.
