8 Clues That Khal Drogo Is Coming Back To 'GoT'

by Loretta Donelan

Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, made his fans very happy when he posted Instagram images suggesting that he might come back to the show. Luckily, there have been other signs Khal Drogo is coming back to Game of Thrones that should make Daenerys/Drogo shippers very happy.

SPOILER ALERT for those who haven't watched the show's first season; as watchers might have forgotten, Drogo hasn't been in the show since Season One, though he's appeared in dream form since then. The Dothraki leader, who was married to Daenerys, fell ill with a wound, and while Daenarys attempted to save him with magic, he ended up in a coma. Dany burned him in a funeral pyre, seemingly ending his life for good.

While he was only on the show for one season, Drogo left an impression as one half of the most functional couples on the show, and a very attractive couple at that. It seems very possible that he will make a comeback, considering his Instagram post of him with the showrunners and his image of Daenerys captioned "See u soon." But that's only the beginning of the signs that Khal Drogo is coming back to the show. Here are 8 reasons why he's probably returning.

He's Come Back In Dreams Before

Drogo reappeared in a dream in the second season; while it might have just been a dream, it seems possible that Drogo isn't entirely dead through some magic that has kept him alive as a spirit.

Momoa Hinted A While Ago That He Might Come Back

A savvy Reddit user found this 2013 Tampa Bay Comic Con interview, in which Momoa says he'll be coming back.

Jon Snow Came Back

While it seemed at one point that Game of Thrones would eschew the resurrections that are so common on TV with a more bitter form of reality, its resurrection of Jon Snow suggests that they are open to bringing beloved characters back.

He Could Be Azor Ahai

A fan theory suggests that he could be Azor Ahai, the prophesied warrior, despite the fact that many think the prophecy refers to Jon Snow.

There Was Magic Involved In His Death

Khal Drogo was "saved" by a witch, who tricked Daenerys into trading her baby's life for Drogo's, giving him a comatose "life" instead. It seems possible that the magic and trickery surrounding his death could have created a loophole that means he's not entirely dead.

Momoa Took The Posts Down

The fact that Momoa felt compelled to take some of the posts down suggests that he let out a secret.

Daenerys Hasn't Found New Love

While Dany has had suitors, Drogo has remained her great love. It seems possible that keeping the flame alive will pay off.

He Could Come Back As A Memory Or Flashback

While it would be more satisfying for Drogo to come back for real, it could be possible that he was on set for a flashback or dream scene. It's better than nothing!

One thing is certain: if Drogo does end up coming back, it will be a big deal, since he could be all Dany needs to secure the throne in the final two seasons of the show. We'll just have to wait and see.
