Hood By Air's Fashion Show's Unlikely Sponsor

It's the most wonderfully stylish and incredibly eccentric time of the year. I'm talking about New York Fashion Week, of course! This year, no other show tops Hood By Air's PornHub sponsorship, proving once again that this brand isn't afraid to conquer new territories and let their unique flag fly.

Visit any number of venues at New York Fashion Week, and you'll be immediately greeted with shiny cars on display, most notably Mercedes Benz, but followed by Lexus and brands like Maybelline New York, TreSemmé, E!, and Intel, according to New York Business Journal. And these sponsors seem to fit the mold—they're all about design, beauty, and entertainment, all things you'll find within the realm of fashion week. While most of New York Fashion Week's sponsors are car companies, Hood By Air went an entirely different route.

But of course, Hood By Air wouldn't quite be the standout brand that they are if they didn't make some head-turning decisions. According to Complex, when guests arrived at the Hood By Air show on Sunday, Sept. 11, they heard some NSFW sounds coming from the speaker system. Now that's definitely one way to open a show. Sure, I've been surprised by some music choices (like the Ostwald Helgason fall/winter 2014 show that played "My Neck, My Back") but this is something else. And I'm totally into it.

This was actually such a smart and innovative move on Hood By Air's brand, since it's gotten the Internet pretty much going crazy over it. Hood By Air is by no means new on the scene, but it's one that's in the outskirts of popular fashion. It's not a brand you see or hear of every day. But with Rihanna's opening performance at the VMAs rocking a Hood By Air tee and now this brilliant sponsorship, Hood By Air is probably going to get searched. A lot.

And, according to Complex, models were sent down the runway with Vaseline-filled faces, wearing pieces reading "Wench" and "Hustler."

This is a bold look.

It's safe to say that this is probably the most unique sponsorship I've ever heard of for New York Fashion Week. I mean, this isn't the first sponsorship they've tried: According to Vice, PornHub has also sponsored an Italian football club.

Personally, I think it's fantastic that PornHub is working with brands and trying to create an interesting, unexpected partnership. Isn't part of fashion's appeal is its ability to try something new? I'm giving PornHub 10/10 stars on this one.
